I used to post on a forum with the guys from Animal Collective.  Right now I'm listening to Sufjan (Michigan).

Edited to add:  Animal Collective was my labor music when I was having baby M.

   Wow.  You are way cooler than I am.  When I'm in labor I have to listen to things like violins, Whale Songs or Sounds of the Rainforest.  I try to bore myself into a trance.  If I listened to something I liked, it would take my focus off of having a baby and I would probably change my mind about the whole baby thing, pack up, and go home (I've been told by nurses that you can't do this.)

My friend was born in a commune, and she still likes that music today.

I had some serious complications, so I insisted upon a Mission Control-type ambiance in the room.  They kept wanting to play Mozart.

I'm "risked out" of homebirth now, so I'm glad I did the whole cheesy thing with music and plaster belly casting etc while I could

My (now presumed) wife didn't want music, but I was constantly reminded of "Rio" by Duran Duran, and for some reason, Haydn's Symphony No. 101 and The Syncopated Clock, especially when the nurses were in the room.

Oh yeah, and the "driving" music from Fargo, for most of the labor, probably because I was so near the ice.

Hah, I didn't even know that women listened to music while giving birth.  Shows how much us guys in our early twenties know about babies and childbirth.  They still use the stork and everything right?

The original (and better) song that the MIA song sampled

If my lovely wife does this, it'll drive me crazy.  I'll really have to crank up the TV to drown it out.

Wow, I didn't know so many trads were into MIA and Animal Collective! I thought I was the only one who liked them LOL... Next thing you know we'll have CSS/Faithless/Le Tigre fanboys here.

And I'm listening to Govinda by Kula Shaker. Here's a link to a YouTube vid (enabling was disabled).

Present.    And Kula Shaker is definitely one of the best bands from the 90s.

Sweet! I just bought the new CSS album, can't stop listening to it. I'm so jealous of my cousin though, cos he got to see them live in Brazil. As for Faithless, this is definitely my favorite track from them thus far:
