I am actually heading to KC this Thursday and will probably leave sometime the following weekend.

My itinerary is pretty open and would like suggestions on what to do and where to go.

Mostly interested in cool shops, bars, restaurants, and/or churches.

Thanks

I was told Grandview. I don't know what that means.

I was told Grandview. I don't know what that means.

Grandview is on the Southeast corner of the city-- there's not a lot there for fancy shops or cool bars/restaurants in Grandview; it's all boring suburbs.  But if you're going to be around for a while, then you can venture out of there.

I think that the prettiest church in the city is Our Lady of Perpetual Help http://catholicforum.fisheaters.com/index.php/topic,3422082.0.html, but it's a pretty dishwater N.O. Mass.  (http://www.redemptoristkc.org/)

For the TLM, we've got an FSSP, SSPX and SSPX.  The easiest for you go get to are either the SSPX or the ICRSS.  I've never been to St. Vincent's (SSPX), so I can't tell you anything about it.  Sorry.  I am partial to the Institute's parish in downtown KC.  (http://www.institute-christ-king.org/kansascity/)

As far as shopping/dining/etc, you'll probably want to check out the Country Club Plaza (http://www.countryclubplaza.com/).

Harling's Upstairs is a good Catholic bar. http://catholicforum.fisheaters.com/index.php/topic,3164202.msg30528472.html#msg30528472 (http://www.yelp.com/biz/harlings-upstairs-bar-and-grill-kansas-city)

Shoot me a PM if you've got time to meet up for a cocktail one evening.  I am unemployed again starting next week-- there's plenty of time to share a little dram.

Cool thanks for the info.

I am only doing a two night thing, I will be there tomorrow and Friday than leaving early on Saturday. I will definitely be checking out Harling's Upstairs. That place is mentioned to much around here to be missed.

Thanks again.
