For the first week, I think we should read through the introductory material, become familiar with what texts Fr. references (e.g., the Summa) and try to find those text online (in English) if possible.

If someone finds a text online, please post a link to it for others.

This is what I've used as far as the Summa goes:

http://www.op-stjoseph.org/Students/study/thomas/

This site isn't in English - rather, the translations aren't - but it is so good and complete and has such wonderful links, that I thought some might find it interesting:

http://www.corpusthomisticum.org/

Thanks for doing this, Quis.

Yeah, the corpusthomisticum has most of the works, so we can hit there, but it would be great to find something in english.

For the Summa I usually use newadvent:  http://www.newadvent.org

OK, I was thinking someone might have something to say about the introduction; I'll post something later because I don't have the book here now.  However, there are a couple of hints as to why the book was necessary and important that come into play in Chapter 1.

I'm going to start the thread for Chapter 1 this weekend.

The book introduces the possibility of basing "the science of mental health on Thomistic philosophy, both in theory and in practice." Modern psychology fails to "effect mental health." So - you have a problem with proper counseling - psychologists today base their work on materialism rather than the real view of man - body and soul.

PLUS - people (Catholics) today don't have the philosophical foundation that they once had.The result is that the void has been filled with modern psychology, which for the most part is adverse to our Catholic origins.
