At some parts of the movie, and even now, I have to question whether it's good for Catholics to really get into films like this.

I have to wonder the same thing.

That being said, it was really very good.  I thought the rhythm of the movie was really great.  You go through these hellish nights with these two people and then with the sunrise comes a certain sense of comfort.  You are ok now.  The banter between the couple during the day is really funny and great comedic relief.  It's a movie of pretty intense highs and lows.  In fact, in some ways it felt like a rollercoaster (which is a cliche movie description, but this is one where it actually applies).  When nighttime starts to set in you just dread it as much as they do.  You know the s^%@ hit the fan last night and now it's just going to get worse.

Exactly my thoughts, also.

It just came out in theaters. Go check it out if you're interested in that sort of thing.

Thanks for confirming my decision not to see "Drag Me to Hell". Doesn't sound like the sort of movie I would like to see.

I saw Paranormal Activity last night. It certainly had its moments. It wasn't as horrifically terrifying as the advertising claimed it was going to be, but the manner in which it was filmed and a number of choice scenes made it a fairly decent horror-flick. The ending practically had the audience in hystericsLaughing

Not bad at all!

I just came back from it and it didn't scare me at all.  Just another Thursday night for me.    The first half kind of dragged, and the last half and ending would have been eerier if it was subtler.   It was OK, but I saw potential for more.  That old gypsy woman in Drag me to Hell was scarier than the demon in Paranormal Activity.

Of course, there's always potential for more. But how much more can you go without dragging it on too long, losing subtlety, or downplaying the climax? If they'd gone any further, you can be sure reviews would be littered with comments pertaining to the above-mentioned faults. I thought it was a very nice balance.

They shouldn't be wanting an entire plot though.   Laughing   The reason so many find Paranormal Activity scary is because they can relate directly to the rather vacuous characters in a suburban setting; and they have an innate sense that demons are real.

Originally there were three different endings to Paranormal Activity. There are people who have actually seen the different endings in the movie theaters. You can probably do a search for it online (I would - but  Im' at work right now).  Frankly, I think the ending where she walks zombie-like up to the camera and slits her throat might have been eerier.

I don't understand how this can't be at least eerie to Catholics.  It's about a demon and straight forward evil.  It's about as close as you'll want to get to this stuff without actually seeing a demon yourself.  I don't get it.
