I'm currently reading Harold Lamb's "The Crusades" and just reading about the stuff Pope Urban II had to put up with and combat even within the Church (an anti-Pope was running things in the Lateran Palace, Church properties and positions were up for sale, celibacy was barely practiced, and the Holy Roman Emperor, the King of France, and the King of England were all either excommunicated or on their way there, and I haven't even mentioned what the Saracens were doing to Christian Pilgrims!) makes me realize that there is no good time.  It is truly only by the Grace of God that THe Church and the Catholic Faith has survived these twenty centuries.
