The normative edition of the Divine Office known as the Liturgia Horarum is the foundation of my prayer life. Yet due to daily oppertunities avaiable to me, I am able to sing Sext with SSPX folk who obviosuly use the 1962 edition of the Office. In order to maximize this great oppertuinity, I have recently requested and recieved a Diurnale Romanum as a gift. Yet to get a book to only use 1/7 of the aviable prayers is a little silly. As such, I have also considered saying the Office of Prime, an hour which the LOTH does not have.
On the one hand, Prime is a beautiful prayer with the theme of starting the work day. The use of the Roman Martyrology in Prime also seems more fitting (and, frankly, less of an afterthought) than its placement at the end of Lauds in the LOTH.
However, Prime goes against the grain of the "noble simplicity" which the revised liturgy was wise in seeking. In short, in my short time with Prime, it seems that the prayer clutters up the morning. If one says the Office of Readings (an hour which is still recommend, though not mandated, to start the day with in the GILOTH), and Lauds, and Terce, Prime seems like a little much.
Has anyone had expirience incorporating the Office of Prime into their daily schedule? Any thoughts in the "clutter-factor," or perhaps lack thereof, of Prime?

In my home we pray Prime on weekdays before going off to work. Most weekends get time for Lauds, and a few of them provide time for Matins/Lauds. We seldom have opportunity for Sext. We can manage Terce most days, infrequently None, nearly always Vespers, always Compline.

I pray the Divino Afflatu version. Get up around 3:30, chant the Matins and Lauds (60-80 minutes) check the internet, take a shower and start the day with the prime.
Traditional Prime was before Mass, and the Martyrologium was read in choir. In other communities the Martyrologium was read before lunch, the Bute is the only breviary including the Martyrologium for private recitation.

I pray Prime with the SSPX priests every morning before Mass and its SO beautiful as a morning prayer to start the day. I pray Sext too on my own (usually) at noon or so and i do hope to have the time to say Compline once those wretched exams finish =p I love sung vespers too and i download the antiphons etc that are not in the Angelus Press Divine Office for the Laity from divinumofficium.com or http://www.breviary.net/index1.htm (uses the 1955 calendar). I really wish we have sung Vespers in my parish every sunday, unfortunately we only have them on 1st class feast IF there is more than one priest around.

My God and my Lord! what need was there of commanding us to love Thee? Art Thou not most lovely in Thy infinite perfections? And for the infinite love Thou bearest to us, dost Thou not deserve our love? How, then, is it possible that anyone should not love Thee? If there is such a person, it must be because he has not deserved to know Thee. For, a soul that knows God, cannot help loving Him, and loving Him in proportion to his knowledge of Him; so that if he loves Him but little, it is a sign that he knows Him but little; and the more his knowledge increases, the more his love will go on growing.----St. Teresa
"Our life is one not only of thanksgiving and praise to God for ourselves, but we also do so for those who do not know or do not thank Him for His Incarnation and Redemption" ---Mother Superior of the Contemplative Dominicans of Avrille (Mother Marie-Emmanuel), in her reply to my enquiries in August 2009

I recently started praying Matins/Lauds before bed (11:30 pm to 1 am) and then recite Prime first thing in the morning. It helps with the clutter factor.
