This is a summary of the huge catastrophe heading our way:

1.  Due to fraudulent "science", the Democrats are committed to reducing CO2 emissions to 50% of year 2000 levels.  This will be done by more or less cutting our fossil fuel use by 50%, as in your gasoline usage, diesel usage for shipping supplies, and electric usage.

2.  The mechanism to make these cuts CURRENTLY is the cap and tax plan.  Here the amount of CO2 emitted is "capped" through licensing, and the various energy users can trade these "licenses" for money.  So if you cut your CO2, and thus come in under your limit, you can sell the "excess" to another energy user.

3.  Each year the "cap" will be lowered.  As this happens, the costs for energy go up.  This is the whole point, as the energy cost goes up, there is more of an incentive to go to the expensive renewables like solar and wind.  Or ethanol for gasoline.

4.  For Cap and Tax, the "Cap" will be set very high until after 2012.  This is so energy prices won't start climbing until AFTER Obama can get reelected.

Now, ask yourself a question.  What would it take to get you to cut your electricity usage in half, and cut your gasoline usage in half?  For me, gas would have to hit $5 or $6, and electricity would have to triple.  Now that is the point, the price isn't "mandated", instead the energy is rationed, and thus the price will automatically increase until demand hits the rationed number.  So when the government lies to you and says that it will only cost a family $100 a year, think about the above.  If it only costs you $100 more per year, will you cut your energy usage in half?  You see, it is a big lie.  It will probably cost you $5000 a year more.   That's what it would take to FORCE you to cut your usage in half.

Now it looks like the word is getting out, so Cap and Tax has a good chance of going down in flames.  However, Obama will just get the EPA to impement it WITHOUT congress acting.  Therefore, your congressman can say he rejected Cap and Tax, but Obama can tell his socialist supporters he got it implemented.  And most likely the EPA regs will be set to become active AFTER 2012 elections.

So if you want to do something, contact your representatives and senators and tell them to reject Cap and Trade, but also to pass legislation taking CO2 regulations away from EPA.  And that if EPA starts limiting CO2, you will hold them responsible.

On CO2, it looks like global warming due to CO2 has been proven to be a big fraud.  Almost every week alarming stories about fraud are getting exposed.  Yes, there was warming up to around 2000, but since then it has been getting cooler.  Furthermore, the warming that we just went through was lower then during the middle ages, which science calls the Medievel Warming Period.

I know a lot of people don't like Rush Limbaugh but he is 100% right when he said Obama is purposely destroying the economy. When the reporter laughed at Rush he said he was dead serious, that no one with any brains whatsoever would do ANYTHING Obama has done or has proposed and he has destroyed small business and this cap and tax will send us back to 3rd world status.

Yep, while I do commend individuals who purposely wish to develop renewable or domestic source of energy because if you can build cheap, reliable energy sources not reliant on the cross dressers in the Middle East, I am all for, but the idea that we can ween off the teat of fossil fuels within 10 years is laughable and worst is punishing energy providers who will naturally past off the costs on you and me.  I am thinking about finding my cave and granola tree now before rents in them go through the roof as we are going that way.

this has the cap and trade carbon numbers and alot more.  The attached estimates that it will actually cost $1,200 a year per family, and that it is designed to destroy the middle class.  I have not verified any of this.

The video clip posted in another thread (http://catholicforum.fisheaters.com/index.php/topic,3425263.0.html) lays it out quite well

I'll repost charlesh:
