I've always been fascinated by reports of creatures said to exist in various areas of the world that are considered legendary, extinct, or just too weird. Stories of lake monsters, sea serpents, ape like humanoids, animals existing where they shouldn't be, etc. have always caught my attention. What do all of you think? Is it possible these animals exist? Personally, I think it's very possible, though I think creatures like the so called "Mothman" or the "New Jersey Devil" are either actual demons or the result of people guilty of too much imbibing or taking illegal substances. I often wonder what the ramifications would be if a dinosaur like animal were to be captured or discovered in a lake like Loch Ness or Lake Champlain, or if Sasquatch is found to be a living Gigantopithecus. New animals are constantly being discovered, and not just insect sized creatures, either. There are areas of the earth that have still never seen a human footprint, like the Pacific Northwest, Florida Everglades, the jungles of South America, Africa, New Guinea, etc. that may hold wonders we can only imagine. Here are a few Cryptozoological websites for everyone to digest and browse through: http://www.cryptozoology.net/english/links.htmlhttp://www.pibburns.com/cryptozo.htmhttp://theshadowlands.net/serpent.htm

I confess this subject has always fascinated me ever since I was a child. Just the idea that there are hidden critters out there waiting to be discovered. It's exciting!

Oh I love this stuff. Though I think that stuff like Mothman is the result of too much weed like the OP said. The Jersey Devil is just supposed to be a bigfoot like guy. I think its possible that there are other creatures out there we havent found yet. Check out wikipedia under cryptozoology lots of stuff there too. The mongolian Blood worm thats a fun one.

In Wisconsin we've got our own cryptid - the Beast of Bray road. Kind of like a werewolf, except we don't know if he's human at all. Big wolf-thing, walks on hind legs. Likes to attack cars in southern Wisconsin. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beast_of_Bray_Road

When I was small I would run around in the woods with my friends looking for her. Most folk in my area truly believe she exists though. http://www.bellwitch.org/

Maybe some of these animals are making a comeback, which is just as well in certain areas, because they can cut down on an exploding deer population.

A year ago, around this time, I was with a small group of people, sitting outside in Warwick, NY. All of a sudden, we heard a cougar scream. It could not have been anything else. It was a big cat. Until then, I had no idea they were in NY. I came home, Googled, and found out that they had been sighted, but that their existence is still controversial. Not for me.

Unless the Lord God had been present in your spirits, all of you would not have uttered the same cry. For, although the cry issued from numerous mouths, yet the origin of the cry was one. Therefore I say to you that God, who implanted this in your breasts, has drawn it forth from you. Let this then be your war-cry in combats, because this word is given to you by God. When an armed attack is made upon the enemy, let this one cry be raised by all the soldiers of God: It is the will of God! It is the will of God! Genesis XXVII:iii-iv Take thy arms, thy quiver and bow, and go abroad:and when thou hast taken something by hunting, make me savoury meat thereof, as thou knowest I like, and bring it, that I may eat: and my soul may bless thee before I die. Si hoc signum legere potes, operis boni in rebus Latinis alacribus et fructuosis potiri potes! "You are the ones who are happy; you who remain within the Church by your Faith, who hold firmly to the foundations of the Faith which has come down to you from Apostolic Tradition. And if an execrable jealousy has tried to shake it on a number of occasions, it has not succeeded. They are the ones who have broken away from it in the present crisis. No one, ever, will prevail against your Faith, beloved Brothers. And we believe that God will give us our churches back some day. I agree. Like Ted Nugent says, kill it and grill it! Venison is good! In all seriousness though, many times here in NY State, doe are dropping two fawns at a time instead of one, and they're wrecking havoc in people's gardens and apple orchards, not to mention causing vehicle accidents more often. Part of the reason why they were breeding they way they were was caused by a series of mild winters in the late 90's. Or maybe they should expand hunting season, or increase the number of bucks and does that can be taken. Either that, or have the chupacapra take care of them!
