I remember hearing about this at the time.
Are you aware that no pope has won the Nobel Peace Prize EVER? That should tell you something.

Here is the full version: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irena_SendlerIt is a shame, if the Nobel Prize were an objective and worthy prize, but it isn't. Perhaps it is good that the Popes, Irena Sendler and other people are not mocked with such a decadent award.

The Nobel prize is run for the purpose of promoting socialist ideals and projects. If Yasar Arafat can win it then you know its crap. And not to be one sided about this I'll include the Pulitzer prize in the same category.

For those who haven't read:
"a Polish Catholic social worker who served in the Polish Underground and the Żegota resistance organization in German-occupied Warsaw during World War II. Assisted by some two dozen other Żegota members, Sendler saved 2,500 Jewish children by smuggling them out of the Warsaw Ghetto, providing them false documents, and sheltering them in individual and group children's homes outside the Ghetto."

I think the point it was a Catholic doing something for Jews. The modern world has largely ignored this, including many Jews who continue to slander the Pope, who saved more Jews than anyone who is formally honoured for it.

I think the fact that they were jewish is significant. Have you ever heard the ADL show any appreciation for the fact that a whole lot of Jews were saved by Catholics?
The next time the world gets fed up with their BS you can be sure they'll be coming to Catholics to save their butts.

Well...isnt this a type of recognition then? They gave a Catholic the prize for helping Jews. Sure, its probably not enough recognition, but we'll never get that, lets be honest. I think what this lady did was amazing, and should be honored. She save many lives, of poor little babies, risking her own life the whole time.

No, the point is Al Gore got the prize over her. He did...something about saving whales or trees or something.
