I almost majored in linguistics in college and I find this remark offensive. I think DK did major in Linguistics...so he has first hand knowledge UD and I were linguists... I'm not gonna ask...

I like the discussions here. I recently got into a pro-life vs pro-choice debate on another forum, and once the prolife stance started making some good argument and stumping the death marchers, they had the thread deleted for being "offensive". they weren't offended until their arguments were all shot down in flames lol. at least here those of our ilk have a place to voice our views!

Unless the Lord God had been present in your spirits, all of you would not have uttered the same cry. For, although the cry issued from numerous mouths, yet the origin of the cry was one. Therefore I say to you that God, who implanted this in your breasts, has drawn it forth from you. Let this then be your war-cry in combats, because this word is given to you by God. When an armed attack is made upon the enemy, let this one cry be raised by all the soldiers of God: It is the will of God! It is the will of God! Genesis XXVII:iii-iv Take thy arms, thy quiver and bow, and go abroad:and when thou hast taken something by hunting, make me savoury meat thereof, as thou knowest I like, and bring it, that I may eat: and my soul may bless thee before I die. Si hoc signum legere potes, operis boni in rebus Latinis alacribus et fructuosis potiri potes! "You are the ones who are happy; you who remain within the Church by your Faith, who hold firmly to the foundations of the Faith which has come down to you from Apostolic Tradition. And if an execrable jealousy has tried to shake it on a number of occasions, it has not succeeded. They are the ones who have broken away from it in the present crisis. No one, ever, will prevail against your Faith, beloved Brothers. And we believe that God will give us our churches back some day. Yes, there seems to be a wide range of opinions here, which usually can be discussed intelligently.

I'm not as active anymore, but have been on the forum in one form or another since early '07. I haven't read the entirety of this thread, but feel like throwing in my .02 anyway. The intellectual level of the debates has without a doubt declined recently. I have no problems with the opinions of the rad trads - i was one myself for a while and still sympathize with them on many, many issues - but the rhetoric thrown around here quite often is pretentious and annoying. When 90% of the posts in a thread come from obviously indignant posters, the quality of the content starts to lack. The sarcasm gets annoying too. I'm not talking about the funny sarcasm, because there's definitely still some of that. I'm talking about the "holier than thou" sarcasm that ties in with the indignant tone that pervades the forum. The lack of humility is startling for a Catholic forum.

I have been posting on here since 2004 and think it hasn't changed very much. But one change I have noticed is that there are more 'wishy-washy' conservative types posting here lately and a few less strongly intellectually minded trad members. All in all however, I still visit the site almost everyday and enjoy reading the threads. If you have a problem with it you are free to complain or to vacate, but you shouldn't use the message board to insult the people who find this site useful and interesting. So what if people use this board to vent frustrations at the NewChurch and the world? The struggle is hard enough without us having to nit-pick about internet ettiquette. Save your complaints for the zionists, baby-killers and perverts in the world, where it can do some real good.

Yup. If you don't like rad trads ragging on your every post then get out. You aren't really a trad anyway. It's a hard enough world already without us having to nitpick on dumb little things like how you speak to other people.
