Just having some fun with tin whistle & piano tonight. Playing Irish folk music is one of my myriad hobbies.

I recorded the piano track with Pianoteq 3.5, a new piano modeling software package. I think it sounds great compared to any sampled piano I've heard.

This recording isn't near perfect (had a little recording latency issue, but it's not too noticeable)... just a wee bit of fun! Enjoy! Cheers!

My hubby's family has an Irish/Celtic band.  The 1st time I ever heard that type of music was at my wedding.  Fell in love with it!  My kids know quite a few rousing Irish tunes.  I think it's a great part of their heritage!  Enjoy playing tonight.

I sing it myself and have listened to little else since I was a child. Wonderful playing!

Thanks!

Are there any particular artists you'd recommend?  I have quite a bit of Clancy Brothers, Tommy Makem, and Dubliners in the iTunes library, and I have a "Celtic" station on Pandora that plays a lot of reels and jigs.  But I'm always looking for more!

Luke is the King of that there is absolutely no doubt. The Clancy Brothers along with Makem are second. The Wolfe Tones are a good, Republican-themed group of the same era. Planxty, The Bothy Band, Paddy Reilly, The Chieftains, The Irish Rovers, Grada, Danú, and Sweeney's Men are excellent as well and should provide more than enough music to last you for a while. If you have a bit of Irish you might enjoy Liam O Maonlaí, Iarla Ó Lionáird, and Muireann Nic Amhlaoibh. Seamus Ennis was a phenomenal Uilleann piper who sang a few old songs as well if you can find any of his music. If you ever want any more musicians just send me a PM, besides Classical and Sacred Music, this is all I listen to and it is all I sing.

Oh, I love Irish music! I was just learning a new tune on the whistle with a friend today, and I still remember a lot of the Irish ballads we'd sing when I was younger. I need to get out the book again.

Unless the Lord God had been present in your spirits, all of you would not have uttered the same cry. For, although the cry issued from numerous mouths, yet the origin of the cry was one. Therefore I say to you that God, who implanted this in your breasts, has drawn it forth from you. Let this then be your war-cry in combats, because this word is given to you by God. When an armed attack is made upon the enemy, let this one cry be raised by all the soldiers of God: It is the will of God! It is the will of God!

Genesis XXVII:iii-iv Take thy arms, thy quiver and bow, and go abroad:and when thou hast taken something by hunting, make me savoury meat thereof, as thou knowest I like, and bring it, that I may eat: and my soul may bless thee before I die.

"You are the ones who are happy; you who remain within the Church by your Faith, who hold firmly to the foundations of the Faith which has come down to you from Apostolic Tradition. And if an execrable jealousy has tried to shake it on a number of occasions, it has not succeeded. They are the ones who have broken away from it in the present crisis. No one, ever, will prevail against your Faith, beloved Brothers. And we believe that God will give us our churches back some day. " - St Athanasius
