I'll be interested to see what happens in my diocese. My perception is that our bishop is a consensus builder, not an idealist, and will tend to want to do whatever will keep the most people happy. By way of illustration, he was very quick to respond to the Motu Proprio and announce the offering of the TLM, but since then it hasn't been offered beyond the two pilot sites. Meanwhile, there seem to be plenty of priests around who go for gender-inclusive language ("and became one of us" instead of "and became man" in the Nicene Creed is one that truly curls my eyelashes) and other innovations, but seem to be pals with the bishop. Will he be willing to reprimand them if they resist the new translation? Maybe, but I bet he'll be patient for quite some time beforehand. In any case, I can't wait. I hope stricter standards on music, vestments, and church decor are right behind.

When the " many versus the all" controversy was finally settled the priests in our NO parish were gleeful with the result... and it will be the same for most parish priests..they genuinely want the truth, but have been stymied by many bishops of the liberal variety..God bless our Priests and make them holy! I am sure were will add the "and with your spirit" translation very soon..they won't wait for the "official version"

He must read the Fisheaters' forum as he has something right.  And he proves my point, the N.O. Mess IS the Mass of Vatican II.  If the bishop approves of the felt banners and the puppets, then they become part of the Mess of Vatican II.

Of course S.C. is fallible, pastoral, non-dogmatic,  and non-binding, but he is correct.  It is anti-Catholic in that it would overturn the power of the Pope.  Which is why Vatican II needs to be put on the Index of Forbidden Books.

I think you mean suppressed, which if it comes to that, then that is what will happen but I think there are other parts aside from the council that can be suppressed without having to throw away all of Vatican II. For example documents that were distributed and written by Bugnini and his supporters which can be easily dealt with.

I have been excited about this new translation for a long time!  When I first went to the website www.usccb.org/romanmissal to read it, I thought they had taken the pages right out of my old Latin missal!  I have been telling everyone about it, but not very many people seem to be as excited about it as I am. Huh?

Ever since I have become Catholic, I have not been impresses with the current translation b/c if nothing else it lacked power and beauty.  Back then I didn't even know about accurate translations from Latin.  I read alot and know that choice of words can make all the difference in the world.

I just hope that more changes will come soon.

I know that our pope only does Gregorian chant and has people receive Communion kneeling & on the tongue, so I keep hoping that will be restored also.  Does anyone know if the Pope has any intentions of restoring those practices??

Hohepa, I think you're on target.  If it isn't "most" priests, then, at least, it's certainly "many".  I'm excited about the new translation, and so are my closest priest-friends.  The new translation is an improvement over the old one in many ways.  It's long overdue, and there are priests out there who will welcome it.

I agree Padre I know a few Priests in my area who would love this unfortunatly our Bishop hates anything that is even remotely Catholic.
