This is an old hat technology - part of the program just got cancelled and then reborn in another format (gotta love defense projects). It was originally port of Sec. Rumsfeld's Force Transformation.
It's cool and I think it'll have a future. I forget what it operates on check it out on FAS.org, Global Security.org, or DefenseTech.org.
Robots are the future of warfare and there are a variety of reasons why.
If you ever want 2 very cool and personal favorite weird techs that were developed at one point, check out a program called Deep Angel and then "Rods from God" (both on the highly theoretical end of things). On the more realistic end, check out Future Warrior or the Sheriff Programs.

It could carry a man like me with two bad knees up and down sloped terrain. I could actually go hiking on uneven terrain that is painful for me now.
Heck, when my knees get real bad, it can take me up and down the stairs in my home, as long as it doesn't scratch the hardwood floors.
I see the good in this.

I see the good in this.
There is a lot of good in it. I can see it operating as a wheel-chair that holds a paraliyzed person in a semi-standing position and keeps a natural pace alongside other people. I do believe some of this technology is also applie4d in prsothetics, but this is certainly an extremely effective military thing. It would just stop people with fear. I think it is too horrible to see, but will only hold prayer that the good things. like using it to find victims in a collapsed structure, will be appliefd ahead of bad things. I shudder to think what a few of these in the hands of a street gang in a city like LA might do! |
