Author Topic: Friday May 13th, good luck or bad?  (Read 1992 times)

Most of my life I looked at Friday the 13th or just the number 13 as bad luck. Since finding out about Fatima and all apparitions but one falling on the 13th, I kinda changed my mind. I now associate 13 with the BVM and consider it good luck, since she gave us more than ample  warning.

I don't think that really believing in luck is compatible with being catholic but I see it as a good thing for the reasons you stated.

I can't win. First my kids b-day party was on May 21. Had to change it because the world is supposed to end then. I rescheduled it for this Friday, the 13th. Well, I'M NOT RESCHEDULING AGAIN!!!!!!!!!

It will be a great day.  After all it is your childs birthday celebration.
You have me thinking I will start a thread about kids birthday parties.  Do you do a family only party or invite your childrens friends? do you have the party out somewhere or at home?  We struggle to figure out this and find a balance with the children.  The older ones want friends now and to have the party at some fun place.  The expense is so much.  Then the younger ones still enjoy family only at home.  Then that starts me on themed parties or not. I could go on but this is about May 13 not kids parties.

I think it's just superstition either way.

My daughter was born on Friday the 13th in the hospital - The good news was that so many women refused to be scheduled for induction or C-Sections on the 13th that there weren't a whole lot of us there!  Smile  Only those of us with no choice in the matter. Smile

It's bad luck to be superstitious.

I think the whole thing's totally silly. The whole no 13th floor of a hotel thing just bugs me -- don't people know that the 14th floor is really the 13th, no matter what label they put on it?
