St. Gerard

St. Gerard's Chapel

This is the place to ask others to pray for you or someone you love -- to conceive a child or to have an easy, healthy birth.

Novena to St. Gerard Majella

Most Blessed Trinity, I, Thy child, thank Thee for all the gifts and privileges which Thou didst grant to Saint Gerard, especially for those virtues with which Thou didst adorn him on earth and the glory which Thou now doth impart to him in Heaven. Accomplish Thy work, Oh Lord, so that Thy kingdom may come about on earth. Through his merits in union with those of Jesus and Mary, grant me the grace which I ask (mention your request).

And thou, my powerful intercessor, Saint Gerard, always so ready to help those who have recourse to thee, pray for me. Come before the throne of Divine Mercy and do not leave without being heard. To thee I confide this important and urgent affair (mention your request).

Graciously take my cause in hand and do not let me end this prayer without experiencing the effects of thine intercession. Amen.

Thank you, Vox.

My daughter Christine is due in August with her first. It's a girl whose name is to be Eva Marie. (Eva pronounced with a long A)

My daughter-in-law Carrie recently suffered a miscarriage and is trying to conceive.

I think we have a couple of moms-to-be on our forum. Lora, you're one aren't you? I can't think of who the other is.

"Eva Marie" -- the mother of all living, and the mother of all who are truly alive. Beautiful!

I will keep your intentions in my prayers : )

I would like to ask for prayers for my friend, Cathy, who was pregnant with her 3rd and went for 18 week ultrasound and the baby had died.    Thanks.

Too, bad, it's not me.

I will be praying for all the moms and the friend that lost her baby.

My wife is having a baby in October. I had hoped for a daughter since I am very fond of the female half of the species but maybe God thought I would spoil a daughter rotten so, as it turns out, I'm having a son. That's all right. I'm considering naming him Marcus (Mark) since I have a son, Matthew.

I'm horrified to hear about the woman who lost the baby. We have a friend who went in for an ultrasound and the doctor said the baby had died and she left the room with the comforting words "you can always try again" and went off to order the D&C.

Another doctor on hand took a look at the scope and he said "I'm not quite ready to write this one off yet."

He was right. The baby wasn't dead and the woman gave birth eventually to a healthy son who is adorable and a joy to his mother and father.

Medical people scare me. This week I had a geriatric cat at the veterinarian with some sort of acute respiratory distress. She was all ready to euthanize the animal. To make one of my long stories short, I followed my gut on this and said "no". The beast is back home and doing much better (though I DO expect he will die soon, just not yet.)

That's a mere animal but it illustrates my point that the Holy Ghost is the vivifier, NOT the doctors and their tests and crack pot ideas.

That said, my wife has developed a slight problem, not with the baby, but with her, that requires some investigation (and the usual vigilance once the doctors start conjuring up their explanations.)

I took up an offer by a priest I know at a small parish to bless my wife for the pregnancy. This is an NO priest, though very conservative -- VERY conservative -- and I have a lot of confidence in him and his theological soundness. The blessing bolstered my wife, a convert, considerable.

Pray for us,

Brennus

Any day now - we are really looking forward to this baby. Rachael is starting to acquire a liking for dark quiet places - but seriously - please remember her (and us) in your prayers over the next few weeks, thanks.

Wow that is a scary story, Brennus!  What an attitude!  "You can just try again." Good luck for your wife, Respice, on the upcoming birth. And condolences for those who have lost babies.

I hope and pray all goes well for Rachel and the now late baby, if she hasn't delivered yet.

Sophia, prayers for you, too.

Brennus, I'm with you about the scariness in medicine. I've been doing a research paper this summer on vaccinations. The subject is controversial for a reason.

It's very important to try to seek out pro-life doctors. They tend to treat their patients more humanely.

I got to go with my daughter to her last pre-natal check up. I like the doc, he is an OB and doesn't clamp the cord right away, letting the baby's blood volume regain some of the blood that is in the placenta. My 7th baby was a hospital birth and his cord was clamped right away, leaving him weakened because his placenta was engorged with his blood. I was so happy that my daughter's doctor agreed with me. He even went so far as to say that immediately clamping the cord is dangerous.   He also recommended some pediatricians that are the relaxed sort and will let parents make decisions instead of just ordering them around.

Now, who is our other pregnant mom? Is it Monique?
