Please pray for my husband and I.  We've both been unemployed since August 2008.  It's been a trying time...

I have been working as an uncertified hospice care assistant and have decided to get certified as a CNA in order to be able to serve more effectively. I have a disability but can work part-time in the right position.

I have been unemployed with no "safety net" because of the uncertified type of jobs, and so I have had to rely heavily on God while trying to decide what to do. I was told by an employment counselor that I would have to wait until after January 30 to be able to get the training to get qualified. I am applying for food stamps to get me through. I spoke to an agency that wants to help me get the training and hire me, today. It will take a few weeks, but may get me qualified before January 30.

I feel as though God is telling me to just stay put, and it is hard for me to be passive. My friends keep making suggestions to go here or there to find some other kind of work, but I believe God is there for me and I have used the past few weeks to reconnect more consciously with the prayer traditions of the Church.  (unemployed since Nov 15 and it was a live-in so I had to use all my savings to get an apartment)

I am relying on Ste Therese de Liscieux, and as you know, she always marks her responses with roses.

Anyway, I had to walk to the food stamp office and I had my rosary and prayed it as I walked (I often do this) and I noticed the home-health agency as I walked by. I would never have seen it from a car or the bus. It did not look fancy, just a small sign and I thought it must be someone just working like me, except they are renting a office. It did not look like a big company that would employ many people.

But when I was coming back from the food stamp office, the front of the same bjuilding had a much more professional sign and a nice entrance. It was "Rosy's Home Health" and I went in, and had a very nice first encounter with a very professional receptionist..

It was only when I came home that I realized Ste Therese has marked an answer to my prayers!

Please pray for me that I am able to hold things together long enough to get stable employment.

Please throw your cloak around me and grasp my hand when evil ones approach.
They prowl about, turning our flesh into their meat and our souls into their prey.
They rip our infants from the womb and our old ones from our arms.
Oh Blessed Mother Mary, I pray this Rosary for the special protection of my home and parish from the deceitful attacks of the Serpent whose head you have already crushed."

Thank you for your prayers. I am not back at work yet but I have had two interviews with the state employment service and they are pushing me to go for higher goals because of my tests. Fortunately, one of my counselors is older and understands my dilemma when I explained to him that CNA work would allow me to serve privately without compromising my conscience, whereas the administrative level that he said I am well-qualified for would put me in frequent conflict with public plicies because I would have to work for a corporation or nonprofit.  He understood.

I have another interview on February 5. I believe we will be exploring ways to get income-supported training.

I am praying about the advice regarding administrative level work. I am praying that Traditional Catholics are rapidly developing enough awareness of the health issues we face, morally, to start establishing small semi-private caretaking groups that can apply Catholic morality to eldercare. This has to be done outside the Church by people well-rooted in Catholicism because the Church has to be free to argue with the politicians over our rights to practice our beliefs while the caretakers must be free to quietly provide good Catholic care to our elders in their homes, free of interference by Kevorkians or similar, free to pray the rosary and enable the elders to receive Sacraments, etc.

I don't know what lies ahead, I am praying for patience and offering my persent anxieties up as reparations for all the bad choices, sins, I committed in my youth and for all the neglected elders.

Just had my initial interview with the Knights of Columbus to be an agent. I could use the prayers to pass my application, assessment, and in-depth interview.

This is pretty much an answer to my prayers for three years if I get this job and succeed at it. Thank you for all the support.

Sancte Joseph, ora pro me.
