Trad before the term "neo-trad" was invented

« on: July 17, 2012, 02:44:PM »

Okay, so I've had a number of people ask me when the next HLS will happen, so I thought I post this.   Do people really want to see another one so soon?  I noticed with the last one that voting steadily dropped as the rounds went on, with videos getting less and less views, and total number of votes actually being very low for the final round.   There was very little participation from the general public, even for the final round in which there was a chance to select something.   So, I'm wondering if interest is high enough to put the effort of doing another "season".    To be sure, there would be changes, though I'm not 100% sure about how they would be done.   Most likely I'd switch it to brackets and elimination rounds this time.   It would result in more voting and less rounds since contestants would compete directly against another randomly-chosen contestant.   Less time.  More fun.   Right?  Of course we'd need more singers.  Hopefully IF another HLS is done, beginning it some time other than just prior to school finals would result in getting more competitors.

Feel free to chime in.

For those of you who may be new or haven't heard of Hook, Line, and Singer, just click on the HLS logo in my signature to see what it's about.

No.  FE Grand Inquisitor has not slipped my mind.  Then do another round.

I was wondering about this the other day. Perhaps some feedback from the participants on why their videos dropped could make it better.

I can't say for sure, but perhaps because....

1.  Interest wanes as time goes on.

2.  Some contestants may have stopped voting later on.   I know I did because it's too hard not to be biased.

3.  There were a couple rounds (later ones) in which I forgot to advertise them as much as I'd been doing earlier.

Maybe keep it to 5 videos? It was like a 10+ week ordeal last time, wasn't it?

Wars have been started, won, and rebuilding begun in less time. lol.

Actually, rounds were five days each, so that would have been seven weeks.  Add in an extra week because FE was down a couple days and I also gave a little more time in a few instances.   Complaints came from both sides that the time was too short and that the time was too long...

Ah. Either way, I'm looking forward to another!

Hopefully I can get an entry or two in.

I got asked about this again, so I'll bump it.   If you're interested in trying out for session two (which WILL be shorter than the first), go ahead and post here.  If you won the first HLS, then you HAVE to be in this one.  No ifs, ands, or buts.   Tell your friends and spread the word because not everyone who may be interested actually reads Pig Roast (I know at least one person who doesn't!).   As said before, the format will be different this time around.   Time to start?  No idea.  Have to see if we even get any volunteers before I plan that far ahead.
