One of my friends, whose name is Orlando, converted to Catholicism only about a year or two ago, but he received poor instruction from the begininng and goes to a liberal-minded parish. He really is ecumenical, yet doesn't know even the basics of Catholicism.

But...the real problem is that he is contemplating on converting to Islam, and believes that is it something that God has been telling him to do for a while now. I told that it wasn't God, and that it was the devil doing it. Then it ended where he openly stated that the Muslims and Christians worshipped the same God and all this stuff...I poorly defended my position, for I was not good at debating. When he said "So you mean to tell me that those who don't believe in Jesus will go to hell? My response was watered down (I tried saying something about inculpable ignorance before being interrupted), and I feel a bit guilty for such poor defense. The interruption was from the teacher in there, who said that it would make Jesus seem "unreasonable" if he condemned nonbelievers (she's a liberal, non-practicing Jew anyway who believes religion is manmade and that religion should evolve with society because of that).

As she said that, a phone call cut her off, and I tried explaining the story of Lepanto to Orlando, but his response was "You can't personify God in war!" So I just stopped, since it was futile and he didn't even know the basics of Catholicism.

Please pray for him and the teacher, Ms. L, that they may receive enlightenment from God and convert to the True Faith.
