HEar are some interesting quotes by Occultists:

One of the most hidden secrets involves the so-called fall of Angels. Satan and his rebellious host will thus prove to have become the direct Saviours and Creators of divine man. Thus Satan, once he ceases to be viewed in the superstitious spirit of the church, grows into the grandiose image. It is Satan who is the God of our planet and the only God. Satan (or Lucifer) represents the Centrifugal Energy of the Universe, this ever-living symbol of self-sacrifice for the intellectual independence of humanity.

Sister H.P. Blavatsky
The Secret Doctrine
Pages 215, 216, 220, 245, 255, 533

It (Satan) is that Angel who was proud enough to believe himself God; brave enough to buy his independence at the price of eternal suffering and torture; beautiful enough to have adored himself in full divine light; strong enough to still reign in darkness amidst agony, and to have made himself a throne out of this inextinguishable pyre.

Brother Eliphas Levi
Historie de la Magie
Pages 16-17

These people are nuts!

They most certainly were occultists and what they reveal in those quotes is core occult belief.

From what I understand, isn't this the core belief behind freemasonry, except they don't tell most of their followers that they're actually worshipping Satan AKA The Son of Light?

Believe nothing just because a so-called wise person said it. Believe nothing just because a belief is generally held. Believe nothing just because it is said in ancient books. Believe nothing just because it is said to be of divine origin. Believe nothing just because someone else believes it. Believe only what you yourself test and judge to be true.– Buddha

Note: According to this precept, I find that Buddhism is NOT true.  I have tested and judged many things, and the only Truth I have found is in God's One True Church: The Catholic Church.

Yes, it is. It's the core belief, veiled in varying degrees, behind all Western occult societies and it was transmitted to them through Kabbalah.

Their quotes also reveal a belief in a dualistic universe where GOD and satan are equals working against each other in perpetual struggle. They also reveal a belief in the notion that satan created human bodies and trapped our souls in flesh prisons. This is the core belief of Catharism. It doesn't matter what you call them, I was merely pointing out that these people can probably be more accurately labeled cathars.

I don't love torture. I think that it is usefull and beneficial to all parties involved in some situations. I think that it should be used sparingly.

I am calm. I am not the one foaming at the mouth over an emoticon. I see that humor is not appreciated here. I will try to minimize my use of it in light of your sensitivities.

Don't be silly.  We love humor here.

The heresy of the Cathars was instigated by the Jews. Judaism has a history of dualism. You can read this in The Plot Against the Church.

Actually, you said "The (sic) aren't Occultists ..." Which is incorrect. Eliphas Levi and Helena Blavatsky were two of the most clear examples of occultists that have ever lived.

It is also incorrect to say that "these people can probably be more accurately labeled cathars."

They were not Cathars so it's not "more accurate" to call them Cathars. And even if they were, Cathar beliefs were based upon occult philosophy, a fact which negates your original objection.

...an emoticon which depicts a person being burned to death, in conjunction with a reference to the Cathars who were slaughtered and burned to death in a thread that has nothing to do with Cathars ... Who's really foaming at the mouth here?

That kind of "humor" is becoming a bit too commonplace here. And it's not only my "sensitivities" that are offended by it. The owner of this website is quite tired of it and has stated so on many occasions. So you can take it up with her, which will get you nowhere, or find another website more friendly to your kind of "humor." Lord knows they're easy enough to find.
