Hypothetically, if someone comes up to a Catholic and jokingly (for all he knows...) touches you and says, "Boohoo, I have your soul," and the Catholic awkwardly smiles and/or maybe mumbles  something disapprovingly, if anything was said at all, has the Catholic committed a sin? Omission? As a side, can someone actually sell their soul? I would think so, even if they willed it. Thanks.

Hypothetically, if the person is a known witch or sorcerer, then the said catholic would be mortified and probably wouldn't react with a mumbling awkward smile.

But, hypothetically, getting touched by a soul-stealing witch (Huh?) isn't a sin -it's an attack- and one could hypothetically have a wide range of reactions!  Again, hypothetically, if one were wearing a blessed St. Benedict medal which wards away witchery, there wouldn't be anything to worry about.

I don't see how this could possibly be a sin, at all. He was joking, he didn't mean anything by it, and if there is a "sin of omission" there then there is a sin of omission when we don't tell off the teller at the bank for supporting usury by her presence there.

I know it was silly, but you all know how the devil grates on us with peculiar scruples from time to time.... this was one of them.

Believe nothing just because a so-called wise person said it. Believe nothing just because a belief is generally held. Believe nothing just because it is said in ancient books. Believe nothing just because it is said to be of divine origin. Believe nothing just because someone else believes it. Believe only what you yourself test and judge to be true.– Buddha

Note: According to this precept, I find that Buddhism is NOT true.  I have tested and judged many things, and the only Truth I have found is in God's One True Church: The Catholic Church.

Dear Lord, I know I can live by Your Holy Will every moment of my life, because You have given me faith that Your Grace will enable me to.
