I wish they sold those dresses at reasonable prices, as I can barely sew a button.

 

I read somewhere the corset can permenantly alter your waistline by 2 inches.  Sounds good to me! ;)

I think a girl/woman can be modest today without having to reach back 100 or more years. Look at Colleen Hammond's website. She gives great ideas.

Dressing to please God doesn't mean you have to go around looking like you're wearing a tent. Those dresses looked good in drawing but looked awful on the live models (except the children, those were cute), particularly the heavier set one; it seemed to emphasize the very thing she was trying to camouflage. There are ways to be modest without looking like a reject from "Sense and Sensibility" .

"Awful" is subjective. I'm a loutish male, I know, but I will simply say that I didn't see one dress on that site that I thought would not look beautiful if worn today. I saw very little "Little house on the prairie-ishness" there. Would that more people could sew these days. In addition, I saw very few, if any, dresses there that were "immodest" by any stretch of the imagination, in any way, either.

"Awful" is subjective.  

 

 

 

It is very much subjective, indeed.  I love Colleen Hammond's book, but I think most of the pictures on her blog are absolutely ugly.  But so is much modern fashion; ugliness and liberalism go together.
