Do sedes see the 1962 Rite of Mass as valid, assuming proper matter and intention (obviously the form was not changed), and a priest ordained by a bishop under the old rite (say, the SSPX priests )?  Or does the very fact that it was promlaged by someone who sedes believe is not the real pope make it invalid?

Thanks!

No sedevacantist can possibly claim a Mass according to the 1962 Missal is invalid, as this Missal inherently has proper matter, form and intention by itself. It's the Traditional Mass. No matter whether the priest adds Saint Joseph Our Glorious Patron to the Communicantes or even a Josef Stalin or Joseph Goebbels, or Adolf Hitler, or proclaims his aunt next door is Pope Joan in the Te Igitur, the Mass is valid.

The question is totally irrelevant, as this is as sure as it gets.

Of course there are many wackos among SVs who would like to declare the 1962 Missal invalid and might actually say it is, but that is done without any reason at all! It's Donatist and Cyprianic nonsense. Nothing else.

No, I never heard of any sede doubt the validity of the 1962 Missal and there really should be no doubt unless one of the four elements is lacking (e.g. ordination of priest, form, matter, intention). Though many sedes will label the '62 Missal as "Modernist" and such.

Thanks! I was just curious as to what the stance is.
