Hey all,

In a previous thread (concerning current military action over in  Israel, etc.), ChantCD brought up a device called a Sun Oven, which  looks quite interesting.  Does anyone else have one?  Also,  ChantCD, do you know of any place that sells them at a less expensive  rate?

On the same line of thought, I was curious if ChantCD (or anyone else)  had any other neat devices like the oven.  I'm always interested  in looking at new toys (if they aren't too expensive).  For  example, I'm still looking into water filters (non-Brita).

  Thanks everyone,

If you have lots of time, you might be able to build one yourself.

The thing is, it might take a lot of time/effort to get one as efficient as the one on sale for $189 http://www.sunoven.com/order.asp This one gets up to 400 degrees.

I don't know if they get any cheaper than that, as far as professionally made ones.

It's an excellent piece of "emergency" equipment, as well as a way to save money now. When Natural Gas prices triple (or more), electricity isn't going to be cheap (because that's how most electricity is generated).

You can also look in The Tightwad Gazette by Amy Dacyczyn at your local library.

I know that I said that I'm cheap, but honestly now!   Ahahaha.  Thanks for that good laugh.  Perhaps I will have to  check out that one.

Any particular commentary that you can give us on your oven,  ChantCD?  For example, is the taste truly superior?  What all  do you use it for?  Does it get hot enough?  etc.etc.

Besides the oven, does anyone have links to any other gadgets?

There is also a Canadian-built product called a "Solar Sizzler". Click on the name to get the link to find out more about it.

Thank you for your time and attention.

The Solar Sizzler, priced at   $69.95 CDN, is only for the reflector and nothing else?  o.O  Have you (or anyone you know) tried this out?

Also, everything is practical and solid since their main customers are the Amish.

An online store for the Amish?
