That leaves me out.  I once made leisure suits for my three oldest children. By the time I got done they were all in the next size up.  My eldest always thought he was neglected.  Oh, well, I've been wearing long skirts only for years.  If I have to do a really dirty job requiring slacks, people go into shock.

I think Spooky is just frustrated because no one ever agrees on the Modesty in Dress issue and it always starts fights and debates....and in the end it just sort of feels like beating your head against that perverbial brick wall.

Yeah, that pretty much sums it up.

On a side note...CULOTTES??? That is a blast from the past! I remember culottes being really big when I was in elementary school in the 80's! They were so comfy, thinking of them almost makes me wish they'd make a comeback.

I remember my cousins wearing them in the 80's (they weren't allowed to wear pants, Fundamentalist Christians). I thought they were the butt-ugliest things  But why are culottes allowed but pants are not?

I believe it has to do with the loose-fitting, almost skirt-like styling of culottes.  Many pants are too snug (revealing too much of the form of the body), and become really snug if you are bending or squatting, etc.  There is likely more to it, or a better explanation, but I think I am on the right track.

I still have my favorite pair of culottes from elementary school.   I just can't bear to part with them.  I think I wore them almost  every day!

Believe nothing just because a so-called wise person said it. Believe nothing just because a belief is generally held. Believe nothing just because it is said in ancient books. Believe nothing just because it is said to be of divine origin. Believe nothing just because someone else believes it. Believe only what you yourself test and judge to be true.– Buddha

Note: According to this precept, I find that Buddhism is NOT true.  I have tested and judged many things, and the only Truth I have found is in God's One True Church: The Catholic Church.

Dear Lord, I know I can live by Your Holy Will every moment of my life, because You have given me faith that Your Grace will enable me to.

The article above mentions both pants and shorts...it doesn't ban them, just says don't wear extremely tight pants or really short shorts. Or did you mean just for your Fundamentalist cousins?

EDIT: can you believe it took me THREE edits before I could get Fundamentalist right?
