No offense BigMike, but I have observed many different groups/races/ages/classifications of people, and military personnel are among the most brainwashed I have observed.

Which came first, the chicken or the egg?  The "mindless follower" behavior, or the military service?  Who knows.

But I have observed it nonetheless. It's pretty obvious to those who observe everything and think a lot.

Perhaps it comes from the training they give the soldiers.

No offense, Matthew but I think you're a pompous gasbag.
I am more qualified than most people on here (unless there are some priests here among us?) to discuss the theology of possession. I went through about 1/2 of a traditional priestly formation a few years ago.
As far as whatecer you think or opine:

Non grati rodenti anuum.

If that gets me banned from here so be it.

I've observed men like you are flaccid pseudo intellectuals that pretty much never do anything that matters in life other than hawking CD's and books.

Campy, remind me again which branch of the Military you served in for 12 years?

No disrespect, but it seems like you drop that line a lot. It doesn't take military service to know what's happening today.

Why say no offense when what you say after that is offensive??

Mike, let's try to act a little more mature please. Frankly, I'm insulted by this and I hope someone sees this soon and does something about.

Come on boys, let's cool it. Mike, Campeador was merely pointing out some things he's read from legitimate sources about military weapons development. Campeador, was it really necessary to derail a thread about Iran, or contribute to it, by talking about military weapons, that is rather off topic.

Mike, ChantCD was making a point and it is a valid one. He did not say that you were brainwashed, he merely pointed out the high occurence of such cases. I don't blame him for pointing this out, because it's likely correct. I know I got the standard "We're over in Iraq kicking arab @ss and that's by gum what we oughtta be doing!" many times when dealing with military people and the professors in my military science course at college last year. I don't think it's any coincidence that they all think this, without exception. Obviously there is some opinion-unifying principle at work here. Either it's brainwashing of some kind, or we really ought to be in Iraq. Many Catholic theologians would argue that the latter is not the case. As such, the former becomes more likely and must be taken into account. Much of it is probably not "enforced," but is rather psychological, because nobody likes to feel as if they are doing things that are possibly immoral, and so great lengths are gone to to justify behavior. Look at the poor Vietnam vets and all the mental anguish they are suffering now.

Lady,

With all due respect I challenge you to pull up every post I've ever made on this forum and find where I have ever said that exact quote besides in this post.

You can choose to believe a 19 year old who is still in high school when it comes to Military matters or someone who spent a large portion of his life serving.

18 year old, and I already graduated.  Don't underestimate today's young people, you'd be shocked at what high school is like nowadays.  Its not combat, but its still enough to force people through drastic changes.

In Iran aren't there many Catholics?

Ok.  I almost burst a blood vessel with this one.  There are a few things I could respond to here, but I thought better of it.  Not worth the effort.
