That might describe it, but somehow I feel that he isn't confused. He's more misguided than confused.

Are the states of being "misguided" and being "confused" mutually exclusive?

No, not exactly. But there is a bit of difference. He, sincerely or not, believes he is right and that we're wrong. A confused person wouldn't know who is right.

I think he's just sad that he can't be an altar girl or serve as the rubber nose bearer at the clown mess.

Now, gentlemen, juvenalia is fine but certainly won't encourage discussion.

If he were to ask something such as, "Why are you against altar girls?" in a polite way, we could politely answer about the historical basis for servers, the place of servers in the priesthood, how laity serves at Mass by dispensation, how even Pope John Paul II said it should be the exception and not the rule, etc.

If he asks, "Why are you against female ordination?" it would give us a chance to explain the sacrificial priesthood, the alter-Christus of the priest, valid form and matter required for a Sacrament, etc.

We have reasons for our beliefs grounded in Catholic Theology.  We should not turn away questioners, but rather welcome them and give truthful explanations to the best of our ability.  The truth is on our side, after all.

We should not be like those who throw stones at us calling us "Schismatic" or "dinosaurs" or whatnot.  Rather, we should act like the Catholics we are.

If he becomes unruly, Vox will smash him like a bug.  No worries.

All right. We'll wait and see. But right now, he doesn't seem sincere. He just copied and pasted from another post he wrote a few days earlier.

So he's the one-trick pony type.

Maybe he performs at the hootenany masses on Sunday night.  Where the only ones in church with ponytails and earrings are the men.

In all seriousness, doesn't it bother you what a joke the Novus Ordo Missae has become?  No reverence.  Profane music.  Lack of respect for the Glory of God.  Not to mention how it's more like a protestant prayer meeting than anything remotely Catholic.

I agree that if he had simply asked nicely and respectfully, I'd give  him a much nicer and more respectful response.  However, if you  can't instantly see that altar girls and female "ordinations" are  wrong, then there might be something wrong with you.

Well, certainly.  But that is only because I have seen real Catholicism and the real Mass.  When all someone sees is these wacky things and the bishops are telling them it's good Catholic behavior, one doesn't know better.

It's not like God comes down and taps us on the shoulder and says, "This is bad."

Now, I must confess I have hair past my shoulders (never in a pony tail in public - I'm a headbanger, not a hippy), and while I do not wear earrings anymore, my left ear is pierced four times.  That just makes me an idiot, and has nothing to do with my love for Christ and Church.  We can deal with my grooming issues at another time....

Though he has thrown the first stone, let him throw.  I am convinced we are better than the mudslingers who call us names, and we should extend charity.  If someone's issue is they don't know anything better, we should take the opportunity to show them why we believe this, then they can make an informed decision.

Zenobius, if you feel uncomfortable asking on the forum, you are welcome to PM me and we can begin an exchange by e-mail.  As long as we keep the discussion civil, I have no objection to answering your questions.
