Unfortunately, I would not say that Brazil is(still) a good Catholic country at all! The VII and it's new mass has their "fruits" spread in a global proportions.
We had Campos for a long time fighting for the Tradition of ages, but even that we've lost! Thanks for Dom Fernando Rifan, a Bishop that fought for many years and that now made a deal with the Vatican "accepting" the VII and the new mass, he even "co-celebrated" one of these masses with the new cleric...
It's very sad because a warrior that fight for a long time in a war and when they are about to claim the Victory, as The Good Sheppard kind of did(without compromising), they give up and accept everything that they condemn in the past. How sad must have been for them to see their fellows from GS being granted to celebrate ONLY the Tridentine Mass and still being able to criticize the VII..? Hopefully he'll regret, pick up his cross and sword and join the Army of God again some day...
But even if we ignore that, that is no way that we can ignore something that is devastating the faith in Brazil, that is called "catholic" Charismatism! It is BRUTAL!
They have TV station's, gymnasiums(not Church) all over to celebrate their shows(which they call Mass), BookStores(you hardly find one really Catholic), CD's with "Christian" music(and that includes Rock, Samba, Tecno, etc..) Oww, you find all sort of "protestant music" as well. They treat the heretics as "separated brothers" but disguise anything that come from the ones defending the perennial faith.
Their priests appears in scandalous TV shows out of theirs already scandalous channel, they have a famous divorced woman presenting programs, they ask(often) for monetary help, but don't worry, if you don't have money they have something called Golden help(or something) that you can help without sending money, they will take your wedding bands! You heard right. They actually ask for your wedding bands if you too poor to send them money, etc, etc.... Ohh Inquisition, how I miss you!
And they are all over the place, unfortunately!!!
If you asked what you are(religiously speaking) in Brazil and you say you are Catholic, they'll keep waiting for the rest wondering: But Catholic what? Charismatic, TLista (Communist), TFP, Chatecumen, Cursilos etc...
It seems to me that is almost a sin to say you are "only" Roman Catholic with no more or less adjective added to it.
But let's pray that our Holy Father will continue to have the guts to fight the wolves. And that the Mas of all ages may be "liberated" as soon as possible.
May the Our Lady of Aparecida be with all of us.
Kyrie eleison, Christe eleison.
Ps: It still exist the old and good exceptions like Maia mentioned, but we need more, way more. The country once called the Land of the Holy Cross can not put up with these waves of modernism, enough!
