Hi, my name is Eric.  I am currently a Protestant who has been thoroughly convinced that the Catholic Church is the True Church both by this website and others and, of course, the Bible and wish to talk to a Priest about converting. I was wondering if anyone knows of a Latin Mass Church in the Indianapolis, Indiana area.  Thanks.

In Christ,

-Eric

You are in luck, you live in just about the best city in the Midwest for trads, at least I think so. There are 3 traditional chapels in the area and a Byzantine rite parish as well.

About 4 or 5 of us are members or sometimes attendees of Our Lady, Queen of the Holy Rosary in downtown Indy. It's on East St. right across from Eli Lily. If you are on I 70 get off at the East St. exit, turn R and go about 1 mi, it's on your right. You can't miss it.

I'd be happy to meet you if you choose to go. I go every Sunday of course and often can make daily masses on Tues and Thurs.

Welcome home.

Here's some info from the Latin Liturgy Association. Sure enough, 520 Stevens Street is at the corner of East Street, right across from the Eli Lilly Corporate Center.

Archdiocese of Indianapolis
Holy Rosary Church
520 Stevens Street
Indianapolis IN 46203
Sun at 9:30 AM (sung);
Mon thru Fri at 12 Noon;
Wed & Fri at 5:30 PM;
Sat at 9 AM
1962
317-636-4478

And, if you ever get up to Fort Wayne (where I live):

Diocese of Fort Wayne and South Bend
Sacred Heart Church
1020 Capitol Avenue
Fort Wayne IN 46806
Sun at 11:30 AM
(sung on the 1st and 2nd Sundays)
Also on Holy Days at 8:30 AM
1962

Actually the sung High Mass is on the first and third Sundays, and Holy Day Masses are not necessarily at 8:30--you'll want to check the Indianapolis info for accuracy too.

Blessings,

So far I am planning on going to Holy Rosary this Sunday.  I'd be happy to me you there on Sunday, just tell me where.  One more question who would I talk to about being received into the Catholic Church.  I am assuming I would talk to a Priest.

You will need to speak with Sister Diane Carollo (317) 236-1521. She is in charge of the RCIA program. They have already started for the year but I am sure she can catch you upon what you have missed. The meet every Monday evening at 6:30 pm in the old school attached to the parish.

If you go to the Latin Mass on Sunday and then stick around between the Masses you will see her. She is the nun in the blue habit with a black and white veil who speaks with a thick Brooklyn accent.

Eric, praised be Jesus Christ! Welcome.

kjvail,

I'll put KC up against Indy any day! A Latin Mass Community(FSSP), a TLM parish (ICKSP) and the District HQ of the SSPX, plus a Byzantine Rite Parish, plus, plus orthodox priests celebrating the NO in un "wreckovated" Churches! So there!

I advise you to check out the Diocesan churches first (or the Society of St. Pius Xth, SSPX, not the independents directly), because of the juridical questions of converting and being entered into the Baptismal record of a Parish, receiving conditional Baptism (if you were not baptized validly in a Protestant ecclesial community, that is: not with the form "I baptize thee in the Name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Ghost").

I would be weary and careful with the RCIA programmes? Is the one at Holy Rosary orthodox Roman Catholic, or is it neo-modernist or semi-protestant?

I don't see the point of following RCIA programmes. Certainly not, if one is converting from heresy and already studying.

I would only join up, if the RCIA is orthodox and correct, not if it's the normal diocesan heretical stuff with  saying "We are all one church, Luther was right on some things too, we don't do things like indulgences anymore etc. etc."

But I don't know the Sister who is leading it at Holy Rosary, so I guess you will have to check out by yourself.

And is Holy Rosary (Indy) all-Tridentine Mass and Sacraments, or mixed with all kinds of Novus Ordo celebrations by regular diocesan priests? I would shun it, if it's a mixing parish.

Instead of us all confusing the poor fellow, just let him met up with Kevin. He will be able to help him get started.

In no time he will be bickering with the rest of us on the nuances of where to go to Mass.
