Please pray for a friend/woman at our church who has uterine/cervical cancer.  She will be undergoing an operation this morning (11:00 am PST) to have a hysterectomy and (may be more).  She is a single mom.  My friend is one of those women who always puts others first before herself.  She hadn't not seen a doctor for almost 20 yrs, claiming she always felt healthy and hadn't had a pap test for almost 24 yrs.  Because she felt healthy, she believed she didn't really need to go to the doctor...no family history, etc.  Well, she had irregular bleeding for about 2 years, (no other symptoms) and finally went to the doctor less than two weeks ago, to have this checked out.  After some procedures, the tests came back revealing she had cancer in her uterus and cervix.   Her life and her family lives has been turned upside down in the course of about 9 days.  She is only 44 yrs. old.  Yes, she had last rites yesterday, after mass.

I hate to say this, but the reading I've done on this cancer and the stage it is at, the prognosis isn't good right now.  I've seen several threads about woman's' health and the pro's/con's of getting mammograms, pap tests, etc.   Sometimes there is too much talk, and not enough action!!!

Please ladies, get the routine women's tests done, yearly if you are older and/or have a family history of cancer.   Your family depends on you to take care of yourself, first, so that you can take of your family.

Men/husbands, please encourage the women in your life...mom, wife, sister, grandmother, daughter, friend, etc.  to get/stay healthy and to get the yearly woman's physical and tests done so she can continue to be the best mom/wife/mother/woman she can be to you or to your kids.

And women, do the same for the men in your life!!!

Cancer's like this can be curable if caught early, and vigilance and proactive health care/management can help.

Thank you in advance for your prayers
