Oh, to be a rocket and just fall, fall, fall and end up in the sea forever. This video comes from a camera mounted on a rocket booster on the Space Shuttle Atlantis. Keep watching; it's hypnotic.

Wow. This video was a bit creepy. First, you're falling, then you end up drowning.

Can somebody hold me?

I found this and decided to post it in this thread. This is an on board  camera of a space shuttle Atlantis launch from October 2002.

At least the rocket (the one Vox posted) doesn't sink into the ocean in the video (just floats peacefully on top...).  Whenever I see underwater scenes in movies, I always find I'm holding my breath 'cause I feel like I'm drowning.

I'm not a good swimmer either, which is probably just as well, because (1) I am "horizontally challenged", and (2) swimwear apparently generates a lot of controversy in trad circles...

You are correct. But the SRB's are released before the shuttle actually  leaves the earth's atmosphere, otherwise they would be burned up upon  reentry like the External Tank(the big one). The SRB's are recovered  from the ocean and re-used. (I learn eet from a book)
