Well ... You could come and play. But you'd have to dress in drag and listen to women complaining about "feminine complaints."

I've done worse...

I'll be giving up video games and television for sure, and also try to cut back on my computer and Internet time. Maybe I'll try to cut out sweets (maybe Smile). I'll switch to plain coffee (or, if I'm feeling really sacrificial, black coffee), instead of the Starbucks Hot Chocolates that I've become addicted to.

I'll also try to be more prayerful and do more spiritual reading, although unfortunately I won't be able to attend Mass, since there's no TLM in my area. :(

BTW, I know this is going to sound completely clueless on my part, but when exactly does Lent begin this year?

I think I'm going to give up trying to figure out this controversy (pre-V2 vs V2 and after), and try to just live as much like a Catholic as I can.

Also the internet except for one project I am working with my daughter and the radio.

And if I can talk my family into it, then tv except for one movie a week

Detachment from the things we love such as soft slippers, pre-heated bathrooms, pre-heated beds, hot showers, a favorite chair, the cup of coffee are good spiritual aids.  Give up one or all of this type of luxury, comfort and familiarity.  Do I cringe inside when I think of giving these things up?  Yes, especially when I think of a tepid shower in the dead of winter.  This cringing is a good indicator to me that I am just a bit too attached to some 'thing'.  It is always good to pray to God when giving up these familiar and comfortable things. Always ask God to make your efforts and intentions worthy, meaningful and fruitful.

I am giving up bread (not the Eucharist!) as it seems to be the most convenient food for me, and as such, it will be sorely missed. I will also be reading the Bible every day, and making a daily personal sacrifice.
