Re: Christian Men...Too Wimpy?

Originally said of Texas:  The Catholic Church; where men are men, and women are glad of it.  Somehow, I think the phrase still belongs to Texas.

This glorification of warriors is a bad thing too.

Farmers is more on the money.

Warriors were originally a very parasitic class in society, but because of their sheer physical power, quickly got in control when different tribes and stuff began to come in contact. In fact, most of human history can be viewed as the struggle to get the army under civil control and try to channel those barbaric energies safely and precisely.

Also, Warriors are parasites. They add no value to society. The expend resources to destroy resources. Like lawyers and government, they are a necessary evil.

It does take some admirable characteristics to be a good warrior, and sometimes fighting, and killing, for a cause it justified.

Farming is praised throughout the bible, and it is probably the best line of work to live a holy life for a layman. Remember swords into plowshares?

Didja hear that Mike? You "add no value" to society!  Well, there's that whole "protecting us from attacks" and stuff, but rillllly, just a necessary "evil".

Yes, I'm a parasite.

A parasite who employs 6 people.
Six people who work for me, who pay their rent, make mortgage payments, and put food on the table because of the money I pay them.

What exactly do you do besides take up space?

Why are there so many Traditional Catholics that have no traditional work ethic?  Like the one loser on here who thinks "God will find him a job when he's ready".

Those who beat their swords into plowshares will plow for those who don't.
Sometimes I wonder why I even bother with some of the people on here.
Go grow some corn, then Johnny Appleseed...pretend you're someone who matters.

Nevermind....you're so damn clueless that other clueless people make fun of you.

Takes alot of balls to talk smack behind an anonymous screenname.

Coward.

Luke 22:34-38

And he said to them: When I sent you without purse, and scrip, and shoes, did you want anything? But they said: Nothing. Then said he unto them: But now he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise a scrip; and he that hath not, let him sell his coat, and buy a sword. For I say to you, that this that is written must yet be fulfilled in me: And with the wicked was he reckoned. For the things concerning me have an end. But they said: Lord, behold here are two swords. And he said to them, It is enough.

Exactly, because while Jesus was with them, He protected them.  He got them away from angry mobs, calmed storms, cured them when they tried to call in sick, etc.

Jesus knew they would need protection after He was gone and that defense would be their own devices.  If they relied on the benevolence of their fellow man they would end up dead.

Tradition has it that all but one of His disciples were martyred.
