At my local NO parish, the priest informed the congregation that he is not permitted to hear Confessions after Holy Wednesday. Yet at the SSPX chapel, Confession is scheduled. What gives?

It's a modern trend, and it's stupid.  They want everyone to get their confessions out of the way early, but they don't take into account that people are naturally lazy and will wait until the last minute.  I don't think that a priest can refuse to hear your confession if you reasonably ask him to do so.

Palm Sunday, Fr stated that we were to take note of the opportunities for confession this week and not to expect confessions during Mass because of the demands of the week. But to remember that they would beavailable for appointments as well as the scheduled times.

Often we have so many desiring confession(many travel on Sunday) that one priest is hearing confessions during Mass. I had not been a parish in years where the sacrament was so available and requested. ( before every Mass and on Saturday mornings) Is frequent confession normal in a Traditional church?  WE often have all 3 of our priests hearing confessions on Sunday mornings before each Mass

I cant see any priest refusing a reasonable request for confession either. Whats with all these peneance services in the NO. they often have 5-6 priests scattered around the church (pick a priest confession)?

So its not that they are not permitted to hear confessions?  Today I went to two different parishes (i also tried to make a confession two times yesterday); I was about to leave and try again tomorrow, but I finally found a priest.  He was hesitant at first, but then he allowed me to confess.

Of course they can hear confessions!  All parishes in our diocese had confession this morning, some also this afternoon.  My parish had it all day, until 7pm, when Msgr. had to go get ready for the vigil.

What nonsense!

Was it him personally that wasn't allowed to hear Confessions? I've never heard of such a thing before.

The parish I went to has 3 or 4 priests that live there, I don't understand why one couldn't come out for 45 minutes Shrug

I don't know, I didn't get the memo since I don't attend Mass there anymore.  I didn't find anything in the bulletin either, but Credo did say his "priest informed the congregation that he is not permitted to hear Confessions after Holy Wednesday."
