McMaster hit the nail on the head.
But about the money, $49,000 is pretty good. It's $7000 a year, or $20 a day. And I would guess that a majority of the money would be for your room and keep.
I wonder if seminarians can get a job?
Maybe you could work out a system where you can work for the seminary cleaning and such.
Or you could write to the Ecclesia Dei commission and request it. ;) (I would)

Yepp, its a bit of money. I have about 15 000 USD now. And I'll get a job and work to get more. I don't think they can get a job. I think they say it on the seminary web site. Should I write the commission to ask for money? LOL

1. Don't worry about the money. If you need $49,000, God will provide $49,000, one way or another.

- Does this mean that I should start playing the lottery Idea

Most likely not! Almost all lottery players hope in vain to get something for nothing (i.e., a lot of money for no work), and end up getting nothing for something (i.e., they pay for tickets that don't win). I was thinking more along the lines of (1) you work to earn what you can, and (2) the FSSP gets more benefactors to help with the expenses of those who can't completely pay their own way. Keep in touch with one or more FSSP priests, keep letting them know you're interested, keep praying and asking for prayers that it will work out, if it's really God's will for you. Knock and keep knocking, and the door will be opened, if that's really the door you should go through.

Blessings,

In my opinion, and if all else fails, it's worth a shot, heck why not. But as McM said the benefactor factor is a handy one, so put away your pen.
If it fails, you still have what you have... and if it's a success, problem solved...with a shocking reputation and a huge amount of expectation as well ;)
You're a third of the way there, so be cool.

I agree about writing to the Ecclesia Dei commission.  Tell them openly and honestly just how it is. Who knows ?  They may have grants available or may  know of some avenue through which a grant is available.  I personally know of two wealthy men who left money in their wills to certain seminaries  to pay for training men for the priesthood.  There just may be a position available in a traditional seminary just for you.
I am aware that some years ago,  a benefactor paid for two positions at a college in the Vatican to train priests for this diocese here in country Australia.  An Anglican convert has gone over there to study for the priesthood, as I type.

Your personal situation is very important too.  I also know of a very devout holy traditional priest who was a late vocation because he nursed his father in his old age first before going off to study.  Maybe the Lord wants you to wait.

Pray to the St. Anthony's, the first, Anthony of Pad to help you find the perfect situation that you can afford to go to and the second Anthony the patron of monastic life that you make the right decision at the right time.

Yes, keep knocking.  Don't compromise your desire for the traditional church, the devil himself will try to make this situation impossible for you.  The pages of church history are full of stories of wonderful holy priests who were greatly challenged in their desire to train for the priesthood.   God Bless.

Thanks for all the advice. I'll start looking for a summer job. At the moment I can pay 1/3 of the cost, so it is plausible that I can collect all the money myself. Also if I descide not to go to that seminary the money will allways come in handy.

I agree that the lottery is not a good advice. Can someone please tell me more about the comission you where talking about. What do they do?

Thanks Marty. So could they e.g help in making the TLM more available in Norway?

Absolutly, write to them and request a priest to service the Trads over there.
It will be easier though when the MP comes out (if it ever does...)

I usually avoid excursions to Motu-Proprio-Conjecture-Land, but it does seem pretty likely that it will actually appear sometime. Yesterday's ZENIT daily dispatch has a report on the recent speech of Cardinal Darío Castrillón Hoyos in Brazil, where he said, among other things, this: "the Pope intends to extend to the entire Church the possibility of celebrating Mass and the sacraments according to the liturgical books promulgated by Pope John XXIII in 1962."
