Umm... I would say that rude and vulgar "burping and farting" is always going to be a venial sin if it is intentional and humor is derived from it (ie: it's only not going to be sinful if the individual is 90 years old and can't help themself, obviously.) We have to remember as Catholics that we and our bodies are temples of the Holy Ghost, and that we are indeed Catholics, representatives of Christ on Earth. Every single action that we perform either befits a Catholic, and provides a good example of Catholic behavior, or it does not befit a Catholic, and does not provide such a good example. Those which do not provide good examples are venially sinful. Simple as that. They're not big things, but if one can do good and one doesn't, doing the "evil" instead, one has just committed a venial sin. If one could say "excuse me, please," and elects not to, saying instead "move your big keister," then that is a venial sin.

Can you imagine Our Lord using the "f-bomb?" How about St. Bernard of Clairvaux? If you can't imagine Our Lord doing something, and you do it, then chances are you've just committed a sin, venial or mortal depending on what kind of action we're talking about.

Okay, so let me get this straight.  Having feelings of lust after someone drops the f-bomb, which is a word that actually means fornication... is a fetish?  As compared to having lustful feelings for boots???  How can these two possibly be compared?  If someone talks dirty, yes I find it slightly arousing... and you're saying I have a fetish?

I don't think that simply using the so-called "F-bomb" is the equivalent of talking dirty.  And one can "talk dirty" without ever uttering a single word that by itself constitutes vulgarity.  The two are not synonymous.

I also do not believe that the average person is sexually aroused by the use of vulgar language or that the average person means to incite lust by uttering vulgar language.  So in average circumstances I think that it is entirely possible that the culpability for sin is completely with the person who is dealing with feelings of lust.

Now if a person is trying to use foul language in a sensual or sexual manner in order to incite lust (talking dirty) ... I would posit that this is an entirely different situation and that the primary issue is not the words chosen but the intent with which the words are chosen and used.  Thus the onus of sin rests in part with the person speaking and would be the same even if the words being used are not vulgar or foul.

So the priests who said that it wasn't sinful were lying? misinformed? How do we explain them away? Shrug

They were probably just modernists pretending to be priests.

Did you happen to see their feet?

Sometimes satan dresses up like a priest to fool you and tell you things aren't sins...if you can't see his feet it's because he's hiding his cloven hooves.

I think that's where alot of harmless things being called "Sins" comes from...to make a normal person think Catholics are ridiculous.

I can't picture Christ doing any of the following so they must be sinful:
playing baseball
eating a hamburger
trick-or-treating
surfing the internet
wearing a necktie
owning a horse
