But what does Christ say about someone who scandalizes children?

Well, I pity an abusive husband such an awful fate, but a wife does not scandalize her children by bearing patiently the faults of her spouse.  Quite the contrary!  Again, I am not referring to cases of abuse when the safety of the mother and child is endangered.

If his faults include calling his wife filthy names, bringing pornography into the house, etc, yes seeing/hearing those things does scandalize children.

If filthy language is scandalous, I hope your (too many) children NEVER see your blog!!!!

Well, that's what I was told and others I know were told as well. Taking God's name in vain...yeah that's definetely sinful, but just using "bad words" was viewed more in the "distasteful" light than "sinful".

Yes.  Really.

I was told by a priest that while using vulgar language is not an ideal behaviour nor is it something that anyone (most especially a Christian) should be doing it is not, in and of itself, a sin.  Further he said that even in those cases where it may be a sin it is rarely if ever a mortal sin.
