Until Rome stops believing that these cases are an "American problem" and realizes it happens all over the world ( I believe there has been cases in Ireland and other places recently come to light) nothing will happened to those in authority who are doing the shuffling.

I don't think JPII could honestly admit to himself that a priest would actually do something like this. My mother was born in 1918 in Cicero, IL (outside Chicago) so she was around JPII's age. She definitely had the stories about priests, But it wasn't until the Boston blowup that she actually started to believe them.

I know someone who refuses to have anything to do with the Church because altho he himself was not involved, he knew of what was going on. So it's not just the actual victims who were hurt by this.

Other ages... are prone to faction, and it is our business to inflame them. Any small coterie, bound together by some interest which other men dislike or ignore, tends to develop inside itself a hothouse mutual admiration, and towards the outer world, a great deal of pride and hatred which is entertained without shame because the 'Cause' is its sponsor... Even when the little group exists originally for the Enemy's own purposes, this remains true.... The Church [H]erself is, of course, heavily defended... but subordinate factions within [H]er have often produced admirable results, from the parties of Paul and Apollos at Corinth down...." —The Screwtape Letters; number 7. Its still no excuse,I have a friend who left because his niece had something happen to her by a priest,I dont know the whole story,ITS STILL NO EXCUSE TO LEAVE THE ONE TRUE CHURCH! Like I said earlier read the book,AA1025,a lot will clear up. And remember Bella Dodd. Its a conspiracy, folks, and these priests are in some cases, willing dupes.Other cases, sinister. And like the exorcist said in cases of priests molesting children,he personally found that in all cases they were possessed.

I have heard in apparations that some saints have said that they wish they were here now,as in these times of oppression aganist the church,a high degree of sanctity is available for those willing to fight for the church.

Stay true. Stay strong. We are all suppossed to be brothers and sisters in Christ in this fight. Call on the BVM,and all the angels and saints.

CC, there is never a good reason to leave the Church.  However, remember what Christ said about those who scandalize the innocent.

Out of charity we should help remind those who were scandalized that while the Church of Christ is pure, it's filled with human idiots on earth.  Part of that may be reaching out to them financially or other ways.

If someone associates a Roman collar with being molested, it's going to take some work to get them to see an alter-Christus in a priest again.  And that is all of our responsibility - to help others with their spiritual welfare.

Personally I would start by re-opening the Vatican dungeon and bringing some of the Inquisition equipment out of mothballs followed by a few invitations to some bishops.  But there's probably a good reason I'm not the Pope or the head of the CDF....

Quote from: Caminus

The proposition which states, "Cardinal Mahoney is neither a Cardinal nor a Catholic" is self-evident and beyond any reasonable doubt.  I'm not sure why he is still being seriously referred to anymore.

I don't think any trad (or even EWTN-ite) has taken him seriously for years.  The unfortunate fact that he gets to keep the title of Cardinal and a diocese makes us respect his office so I would kiss his ring, but I have no respect for him as a man.

I wouldn't kiss the ring of a non-catholic pretending to be a Cardinal.  If he can be considered a true Catholic Cardinal, albeit an evil one, then the Church, in part, is definitely eclipsed by an unspeakable darkness aping the Catholic Church.  He is anti-christ, an alter diabolus.

Think about it, there isn't even basic charity over there, let alone true faith!

How this Cardinal Mahoney continues to be a prince of the Church is something that completely boggles me! The same can be said of Cardinal Kasper and others.

It seems, in a thread like this, that somebody ought to say that they NEVER had a bad experience with clergy when growing up.  I had a very intensive Catholic education (pre and post V2) and was exposed to allot of priests and nuns over the years in every conceivable situation.  I was never shown anything but good example and holiness by the men and women entrusted with my education.. I was just gobsmacked when the Boston revelations were made public.  I still cannot believe the scale of it.  But it will perhaps lead to a cleansing.  We all know the famous quote of Paul VI about the smoke of Satan.  I also heard that Pope Benedict was overheard to say, "there is so much filthiness in the Church".  Can you imagine how he agonizes?...

Hopefully he will realize soon that he is the only one that can do something about it.  He must act decisively and with great zeal for the good of the Church.

I ran across an interesting movie trailer for "Deliver us from Evil" which showed Mahoney.

http://www.deliverusfromevilthemovie.com/index_flash.php

The movie trailor was included on the John Lennon DVD "The U.S. vs. John Lennon"

Take care,

Mike P.
