We spent a long last weekend driving around Minnesota.  We caught a Mass on the radio that we probably would have walked out of had we been there.  The "gathering songs" were two Contemporary Christian numbers, the kind you hear on Christian radio, accompanied by a guitar. It got worse from there, and we had to turn it off.

Then, we were in one town and were wanting to go to daily Mass the next morning before we left, but we happened to catch the replay of Sunday Mass on the TV so we watched. It was just dreadful from the start, but when it came time for the Eucharist, the priest handed everything over to the extras that gathered round the altar. They distributed Communion while the priest watched. Needless to say, we didn't go to daily Mass there the next morning. We would have walked out of that one, but instead we just turned it off.

Maybe it's time to walk out when you actually start to laugh at the mess going on around you.

At my parent's church, this past Sunday, the music for one of the songs was so similar to the little piano outro they play at then end of Saturday Night Live (you know where everyone is gathered on stage and they thank the band for playing, and whoever for hosting the show)...I actually laughed out loud.

They make it seem so innocent, but it leads to a mockery of the Mass...and a total loss of reverence.

Not to mention the priest and deacon always bow to the table instead of genuflect to the tabernacle...meaning they turn their back to the tabernacle every time they walk by.

In 2008, I'll vote for Ron Paul, or not at all!

Yeah I am always baffled as to WHAT ARE THEY BOWING TO? Are they so very out-of-touch ignorant to not know they are bowing to a piece of furniture while they are turning their backsides to GOD?  unbelievable.

I made it through the temple prostitute see-through dress-wearing, lectionary-twirling liturgical dancer, but I could not make it through the invocation of the "Mother God."

Admittedly, sometimes it depends on my "mood."

Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa.
