Are there any independent seminarians lurking out there?

Independent?  If you mean sedevacantist, that topic is not allowed on this forum.

Traditionalist,

Not all independents are sedevacantists.  Let's not throw such accusations around.

Thanks,

Truly, I was not making an accusation . . . just pointing out that if that were the case, it leads to trouble here.

Forgive me if I have offended.

No worries, Traditionalist.  A lot of people have been really jumpy on the topic lately, which I think is a bit much.  Hopefully, we can remain on good terms here.

To the new member, sedevacantism is indeed forbidden here, but hopefully you can stick around nonetheless.  Sedevacantists themselves are NOT banned (last I checked).

So, tell us more about yourself!  Smile

I would think that by nature and vocation..a seminarian cannot be independent. Seminarians must be submitted to some authority that will eventually ordain him. Maybe I dont understand  "independant"...I dont think that is possible as a priest.

TradGlad,

Independent clergy tend to be those traditional Catholics who operate outside of the bounds of the diocesan structure, trying to administer the Sacraments to Catholics adhering to the old ways (ie. not to the post-conciliar innovations).  This is somewhat vague, but it is impossible to create a perfect stereotype for such a large contingent.

Hopefully that helps,

Pinoy Monk

That's a good way of putting it, Pinoy Monk.

TradGlad, you are correct that a seminarian would need to be under an authority (ie. bishop) who would ordain him.  By independent, I was meaning someone not part of the "Indult" (now Motu I would suppose) groups, SSPX, SSPV, or CMRI.
