"I watched the movie for a statistics class and we were able to rip it to shreds, fact by erroneous fact."
Please don't confuse us with the truth. That's too hard for some people to swallow. As Bishop Williamson has correctly noted, liberals are only concerned about feeeeeeeelings!

Just watched An Inconvenient Truth for the first time--pretty compelling.
And the claim is that it's a pack full of lies?
Has anyone challenged the facts presented in this movie directly, item by item, or has all the criticism been tangential?
I watched the movie for a statistics class and we were able to rip it to shreds, fact by erroneous fact. Just because old Al stands on a ladder doesn't mean that arctic warming is man made. Plus, if the science is so compelling, then why in the world does he have to weave in his sister's death from lung cancer? Heart string tugging to cloud sound judgment. Plus, what about that other glacial melt down that gave us the Great Lakes and many other glacier lakes??? Where were all the people and their odious carbon footprints at that point in time? Plus, why do people like Gore and that other retard who does the junk video think their carbon footprints are so much more special than the rest of ours? "I have traveled all around the world to look at polar bears..." Ahem. How much fuel did you suck up doing that? Again, I ask, WHERE are the alleged facts in the movie challenged and refuted? TALKING about refuting them and showing proof of their refutation are not the same.

Well, hopefully the anti-global warming people at least recognize that pollution exists, because if you don't, I've got some fumes to sell to you and inhale. Never watched the movie, so I'm not dragging myself into this.

"Again, I ask, WHERE are the alleged facts in the movie challenged and refuted?"
Since I'm busy at my job, I don't have time to collect and post all the counter-arguments to Al Gore's movie. Suffice it to say, there are plenty of credible scientists who take issue with the movie's key points. You can do an Internet search on this topic and then come to your own conclusions.

My conclusion is that a lot of people are saying his stuff is refuted without actually refuting it.

Perhaps, but there's also been some serious scientific analysis of Gore's positions. Contrary to mass media reports, not all credible scientists buy into his dire global warming theories.
I wish I had time to unearth the stuff I've read about Gore's movie, but I'm sure you can find plenty of good reading on the web. It's important for us to get beyond the hype on this subject if we're to arrive at well-founded conclusions.

Exactly, and that's what I'm trying to do. It seems to me, there's way more "hype" that's anti-Gore--that has me worried that is has no substance. I'll review what marktrnds provided. But, for the "anti-Convenient Truth" crowd it would seem a good presentation would be a listing of Gore's facts one-by-one with a listing of their refutation next to them.

Speaking for myself, I've read enough material to know Gore didn't let the facts stand in the way of a good movie! If others choose to buy into his arguments, then that's their decision.
