Earlier, on another thread, someone was a little upset with me for saying that I am uncomfortable at St. Gertrude the Great, where Fr. Cekada is he Asst. Pastor (Did I get it right this time?)....This is why....The man is a sedevacantist, and when I spoke with him, I got the strong impressin that he believes only those who follow and believe his view on things can be "saved"....To tell the truth, he scared me.....And will never go there for Mass again....
As much as I personally hope sometime in my travels I can make my way to SGG, have you ever been to Immaculate Heart of Mary (SSPV)?

As much as I personally hope sometime in my travels I can make my way to SGG, have you ever been to Immaculate Heart of Mary It's actually Immaculate Conception, but no worries. Myself personally, no. Every time I'm in Cinci I attend SGG, but I hear Immaculate Conception is a nice place. I wish SGG and IC could combine forces, but sadly this will probably never happen. To deny the validity of our present Pope, as well as the rest who came after VII is a ridiculous absurdity, to my way of thinking...You may not agree with me, but that is how I feel. For one thing, we cannot mae that kind of judgment.....To believe thus is to put oneself outside the Church, and I will never do that.. Finally, one cannot consider as schismatics those who refuse to obey the Roman Pontiff because they would hold his person suspect or, because of widespread rumors, doubtfully elected (as happened after the election of Urban VI), or who would resist him as a civil authority and not as pastor of the Church. (Wernz-Vidal, Ius Canonicum [Rome: Gregorian 1937], 7:398 I believe that the SSPX and the Vatican will one day be totally reunited. Perhaps the reason I am more comfortable with them s that they have so steadfastly held to tradition..while acknowledging that the Pope is the Pope. But they believe that the Church can issue an evil rite of Mass. They also believe that they can sift the Popes teachings. Submitting to the Pope and merely hanging his picture in the back of your chapel are two drastically different things. These practices are defiantly not traditional. Father Cedaka, as well as Bishop Dolan (as well as others like them) will, I think, have much to answer for.....
That's a horrible thing to say.

I agree that it is sad that the two can not work together as a "powerhouse." That's why I could never go to Immaculate Conception - I'm a regular attendee of a Mass offered by the priests of CMRI and that would be against the SSPV communion rules.

I see! Yeah, the situation was improving not to long before Bp. Santay's consecration. IC even allowed for a couple from SGG to act as Godparents for a new baptized baby who's parent's belonged to IC. Our own JubilateDeo (Stephen) goes there. I'm sure he could fill us in.

I know of no Sedavacantist who believes that "the entire apostolic succession has stopped." One who would believe such nonsense would have to confess that the Church has ceased to exist. They get around that through their "bishop in the woods" theory. They believe that somewhere out there in the vast world, one Bishop still retains ordinary jurisdiction. Of course they believe their rogue Bishop's have apostolic succession, but they must also maintain this theory in order to still retain the belief that the Church is visible. Not all sedavacantists believe this. There are some who believe that there are true and legitimate Cardinals in exile. as well as priests and bishops who have jurisdiction from a Pope. But I will not say anything further on this subject BECAUSE IT IS NOT ALLOWED TO BE DISCUSSED ON THIS FORUM! MODERATORS: Please remind the members of this forum of the rules. It is quit easy for SSPXers and their like, to bash sedavacantists and their theories, and then quickly say "Oooops, I'm sorry, It won't happen again!" Then they continue to break the rules again and again. If I continued the Sede discussion as much as other posters on this forum, I would be quickly removed! Please uniformly enforse the rules, OR create a thread dedicated to the discussion of sedevacantism. Thank You! Christ is Baptised! In the Jordan!

May God grant that thy blood, O St. Josaphat, which thou didst shed for the Church of Christ, be the pledge of union with this Apostolic See, a union for which thou always didst long, and which thou didst fervently implore day and night from the God of all Goodness and all Power. In order that this may one day come to be, We earnestly desire to have thee as an unfailing advocate before God and the Heavenly Court" (Pope Pius IX)

I would love for the old forum to be re-opened. A "battle" has been brewing for a while. But maybe this easily foreseeable battle is why the forum shouldn't be opened. I'll continue to love FishEaters either way, so when it comes down to it, we must leave it up to the site owners to run their board as they see fit.

Josaphat, people who are not Sedevacantists but believe the new rites of ordination are invalid would also implicitly believe that the entire apostolic succession has stopped (or is about to fall off a cliff). You assumed he was talking only about sedevacantists with the below post. My opinion is that he was contrasting the arguably more moderate position of the SSPX with those that believe apostolic succession has stopped as an illustration of why they have "hegemony within the traditionalist movement." I mean, we could be like AQ and ban even the use of the "S-word", but I'm hoping we can be more reasonable. Heaven forbid anyone say the Society is wrong! By the way, since when did the Society become the infallible interpreter of Tradition? Frankly my dear, I don't give a darn about ANYTHING the Society has to say! I am a Catholic and will abide by the infallible declarations of the Magisterium of the Catholic Churh, not by the opinions of Fellay, or anyone else.
SSPX has no teaching authority or immunity from error-- just hegemony within the traditionalist movement, as Bishop Dolan has admitted. That's because SSPX takes a moderate traditionalist line and avoids extremes, like positions which imply that the entire apostolic succession has stopped.

Many other posts in this thread bash sedevacantism/sedevacantists one way or the other. In my humble opinion, I believe this thread should be closed.
