I can give it my best shot. I am not as well-versed in apologetics as most of you, but a good leader can help me make a difference. Count me in.

Thank you for doing this for Christ and His Church

Seminarian Matthew,I have sent an email to Fr P who leonius knows about, telling him about this and asking for any help/suggestions. Let me just say that this is a truly gifted priest, and I hope to hear from him soon.Trust me,he has many gifts. If he consents to help us in anyway,we will be truly blessed. I did forget to ask him to pray for us,but I will, and this one's prayers are powerful. There are priests, and there are priests. At the other end of the scale are priests like the one who said the only mortal sin is murder(!) I dont know much about blogs, and never used one,or a discussion group, but I will do it.

If you are interested in doing this, please let me know and comment below.  We need as many people as possible before we split up into squads.

Seminarian_Matthew,

I really don't have the time to get involved in online debates but if you happen to run into atheists who claim that there's no such thing as an ex-atheist (a not-uncommon argument) I would be happy to help seeing as I am in fact an ex-atheist who used to make similar claims in online forums.  "Been there, done that."

pocketharpy & Cradle Catholic:

Thank you both for the offers to help in the ways in which you are able to do so.

My experience is, is that online evangelization and missionizing is generally not directly visibly productive. And people - even if thinking about your arguments - still react aggressively online, because they do not meet you in person and in reality. The bickering etc. is typical of this "I hide" mentality.

Missions on the streets are usually more openly met even by critics, who remain more charitable even then mostly.

That's my experience. I do post on youtube though. But not merely on religion. Most Fundamentalist Evangelical Protestant liars post videos without comment possibilities anyway. Otherwise I stay at traditionalist Roman Catholic fora.

I also have a Youtube account and mainly just use it to view SSPX videos.  Interesting, I had not thought about possibility using a group on Youtube.  But, it is not exactly a forum and it would be harder to evangelize.

I've been defending the Faith online since 1993, when I had a very basic computer that ran DOS and had a dot matrix printer.  LOL  Ancient history,  personal computer-wise.

And I have to agree with HMiS that it's rarely visibly productive.  But there are always many lurkers who may be getting the message.  I keep doing it for the lurkers that I might influence.  It never hurts to explain the Rosary to people who have no idea it involves meditation on events in the lives of Jesus and Mary or why we don't take Jesus off the cross since He rose from the dead.  The next time someone says that around me, I'm going to point out that all Christians show Jesus as a baby in the manger at Christmas but nobody thinks Jesus remained an infant.

I have promised myself that this next week I'm going to cut my online time drastically to pursue my other interests but I can still probably help some, so send me the info.  I know I'm hooked on Fisheaters.  Thank you, Vox wherever you are!

There was no one thing that anyone said to me online or off that had me change my mind.  Those who argued with me did not witness my return to the Faith.  It was a long, slow process that I had to go through by myself.  But I do recall many of the things that were said to me and I can now see those arguments in a different light.

Every little bit helps.
