I was reading in the fisheaters website of about end times.  It seems we as Catholics have taken the appropriate anointing with oil on the head at our confirmations but what about taking the mark of the beast?  Should we be concerned about taking a chip in the hand or head.  I still am not clear on what the Church's teaching on this subject is?  Does anyone care to give insight?

To Modern Catholics:
We are what you once were.
We believe what you once believed.
We worship as you once worshipped.
If we are wrong now, you were wrong then.
If you were right then, we are right now.

Want to see something scary? Run the search term September 2005 Quartet Meeting through Google images. It's the first photograph that pops up. Look closely in the background.

Maybe those anti-UN, black helicopter seers are onto something. Spooky!

We are not allowed to take any device or sign that will make us slaves of Satan, a satanic state, or in fact any state.

But the Church has not (yet) spoken on this, as despite Catholic visionaries and prophecies, it remains to see whether the sign of the Beast will in fact be a microchip or kind-of observance device, or in fact a wholly other object.

I think we should be critical towards world-government and the tendency to control all aspects of our private and public civilian lives, reject all forms of state totalitarianism, but please do not go bananas or around panicking like some Evangelicalist Fundamentalist preachers and followers do in the States.

The numbers on banners behind the people seated, 60, 60, 60 but the '0's are covered by the flags and the last 0 is cut off from the picture, so it says 6 6 6

John's Apocalypse seems to say that the the mark of the beast will be required in order to buy, sell, and get food to eat.

Therefore, I think it's very likely that when the time comes for people to choose whether or not to take 'the mark'...they will be consciously choosing between a government subsidized existence, and a very difficult lifestyle ostracized from society.

Unfortunately, we have arrived at the technology needed to implement this, and the circumstances that could be used to justify it.  After all, if you want to solve illegal immigration and fundamentalist terrorism...you definitely want the ID Chip proving you are a citizen in good standing ;)

Don't worry about the recent food shortage, if you have your chip...we'll make sure you are fed and safe.  All your credit information is on your chip...and stores don't take worthless federal reserve notes or credit cards anymore...

I suspect Dave C is right.  We are now for the first time in history at a place where not being chipped would make life near impossible, as well as having the technology to make this possible and practical.

The Holy Family escaped to Egypt to flee the persecution of Herod.  Where would Catholics flee today under the gaze of satellites?  Very few of us could survive living solely off the land even if there were pieces of land where we would be left alone.  We would need to interact with modernity and without a chip this will be at least as difficult as operating without using a credit or debit card today.

On the contrary, we need to rebel and cooperate with Christ to push such a state of affairs back. And keep rebelling until we win...even if the effort takes centuries to accomplish.

As long as we realize that winning would include undoing everything that America is...I'm in agreement.  Although, words like 'rebel' and 'revolution' are starting to sound like 4 letter words to me.
