Just got a new laptop... it's all up and running, but the wireless mouse quit working all of a sudden... is there some setting I accidentally turned off?
Ihave it plugged into the USB port now but absoloutely nothing.. it lights up like it's supposed to, everything about it seems great but it's not translating onto the screen... Any vista experts?

just using the touchpad for now

What brand of wireless mouse?

Vista may be hating on it.

download the latest drivers for your mouse from the manufacturer's website, then it will work.

Thanks.... I tried to go to their website but it appears that it's down or something. Funny it worked great at first..

in the mean time I just grabbed a spare USB optical mouse and plugged that it.. works great of course.. I think I'm going to take the little travel mouse back if I can't get ahold of the website by tomorrow..

This is my first laptop..

Got a dell inspiron 1720. It's got a 17 inch, high definition widescreen with a built in full sized keyboard..

Has a core two duo 2.2 ghz processor
3 gig of ram.
256 video card.
dual layer dvd burner.
soundblaster audigy.
160 gig 7200rpm HD with a free-fall sensor.
an extra beefy battery..

I got it as, sort of a desktop replacement and only so because of the screen size and that it would be nice to take to hospital on the infrequent occasions.. other than that it's a pretty stationary computer

"Micro-innovations" is the brand.

"What's in a name?" I'd say a wireless mouse that doesn't work would be a very small innovation indeed.

If you haven't taken it back already I would just type the model of the mouse and then driver or drivers after it in google and a few sites should come up that host the drivers.

e.g. micro-innovation(s) model number here (usb) mouse driver(s)

All in paranthesis are optional. Most of the time with things its a driver problem, unless you're an insane tweaker like me.

That must be a 1500$ laptop, nice.

That's pretty darn close.. , I went up in power as much as finances would permit  -- because I occasionaly use a few CGI animation, and video editing programs..

The biggest problem of the day was the dang PC-cillin antivirus.. It kept going bung if I tired to install any progroams - then it wouldnt let puter shut down all the way.. I spent about two hours on the phone with a tech rep from dell... finally I had to take matters in hand and do a restore to factory origional conditions (why not, it's less than 24 hours old anyways) and uninstall that program from hell before it set up... then installled one of my own anti-virus progs... now it's been running great!

still havent tried the mouse again yet.. maybe tomorrow
