May he be converted.

Yes. I should like to see him converted. He is a very funny man, is intelligent and would be useful to the Kingdom of God. As for all this . . . he's been talking like that for years. It's not anything new. I think he has also insulted the Muslims so at least he isn't a gutless worm like so many other people who will trash the Catholic Church.

Don't we wish?  Another Saul converted?  But that was another time, another place.

A profligate and reprobate is what he is and he's already been judged.  Somebody as bad and evil as this Maher will scoff at and mock God even at his deathbed.    Repent and say I'm sorry?    Unlikely.  Improbable.    Even if wished to, he won't be allowed.    Take Voltaire.    On his deathbed he asked for a priest but those on his watch prevented a priest from coming.    Did Voltaire die a repentant sinner?

Maher is more than a worm; he's a serpent.   I don't have anything nice to say about him.   It's not the Christian thing to do, what what else can one do when Our Lord is mocked and insulted.   I'll pray for Maher and do reparation for what he has done to the Church.

I don't see why people give him a time of day.

Anything we do without offering it to God, is wasted.” -- St. John Vianney, The Curé of Ars

When next you hear some attack called an idle paradox, Ask after the dox.  Pursue the dox; persecute the dox. In short ask the dox whether it is orthodox.
---G.K. Chesterton, Daily News, October 28, 1911

God Himself does not propose to judge a man until he is dead. So why should you?

In thee, O Lord, have I hoped, let me never be confounded: deliver me in thy justice.

The world was to be saved by the preaching of the Cross and on the Eucharist, and not by human wisdom or eloquence

According to Don Imus, Bill Mahr's mother was Catholic and he went to Catholic School or atleast raised as a Catholic.

What, art thou a Calvinist?

I understand your rage though. It is quite disgusting that nothing is done about this. No one is afraid of the Catholcis anymore.

Do you have a source for this?

According to Simon Schama, in Citizens (1990, Vintage, p. 22), a confessor attempted an orthodox rite of absolution, rather than the formula Voltaire had devised — “I die in the Catholic religion into which I was born.” His apocryphal last words refusing to deny the Devil were: “Is this a time to make enemies?”, and his parting words to the priest: “Leave me to die in peace.”

The people you here laughing in the audience are typical Manhattan, yuppie, 20 & 30 something elites.  Half are Jewish and the other half fallen away Catholics.  These are the typical studio audience for these HBO, Comedy Central type shows.  They are all virulently anti-Catholic, pro-PC, Obama supporters who cannot think for themselves.  Most hold their perverted beliefs because they have a pack mentality and feel pressured to hold the same views as their decadent peers.  I pray for these people but also, having known these types, I don't hold out much hope for them in this life or the next.

More boring, predictable un-funny "shock" tactics from a guy in a suit with a big mouth sitting on a fat paycheck in front of a television camera.  I'll pray for him.

Its not slander, its libel. He should be sued, make an example of him.

The Church has so far avoided making use of the secular courts to drum up hate-crime charges against those who slander Her. Lets continue this and not go down the path of the enemies of the Church who do such things.

I disagree completely with this advice! I say punish him for doing this, lest Our Lord Jesus strike us with some major national or regional disaster for not stopping him. And if the Church won't sue him, then the laity will.

As I have said in the past, we are to be the Church Militant...not the Church Milquetoast!

I doubt he has seriously insulted Islam or he would no longer have a tv show, might have a fatwa on his head, assuming he still had his head at all.
