First, they came for the puffy sleeved polygamists...

It's a strange world where Trads stick up for immoral heretics in the name of religion.  Strange indeed.

I thought it was just me that was having trouble with this.

And I wouldn't be seen dead in a puffy sleeve. Anyone got a problem with that ?

For your edification (not that you care about facts) I wear a mantilla at Mass.  I just don't believe that dressing modestly means that you have to look frumpy and completely unattractive or so outrageously "different" that you make people think you're just another "religious freak."

But if you get off on your wife dressing like Laura Ingalls-Wilder and she  doesn't mind doing it ... more power to ya.

Agree entirely!

Wearing a mantilla does make you an outdated religious freak.

You don't wear them outside of church so how would anyone even know you're an "outdated religious freak"?

You're quite right,we really need to give credit to the sodomite purveyors of filth while they mock women who dress in modesty.

Dressing in 19th century Victorian style clothing from head to toe, they must be evil!

How modest is it to make everyone stare at you?

The TV will tell them all about it.

Oh dear, this bodes poorly for me. For some reason, I am content with the clothes I own (everything fits!), and I haven't bought anything new for several years, save for the necessities.  I'm going to be that guy who looks out of place, for dressing 20 years out of date, in 2020.

I am not addressing the issue of head covering - which I see as a completely separate issue from dressing like escapees from an Amish fashion show.

It's a more attractive look than those sack-like denim jumpers that I see the Trads wearing on those EWTN crafts shows. Smiling once and a while wouldn't hurt either. They appear so flat-line that I can't imagine anyone seeing the joy of God in their lives.

Well no one would be staring at them if they just left them alone in their little Shangra La now would they?

You think those Mormons wouldn't be staring at several hundred girls who dressed like Brittany Spears and Madonna if they were suddenly thrust-ed onto their little compound?
