"it is a long way to go from "disobedient" to "denying the Pope's authority"."
This kind of reasoning can and does often lead to sedevacantism.

I have found that sedevacantism is born in a narrow focus on the limits of the Pope. Therefore the flip side of vacantism is really NO papalotry. One position often leads to the other.

The Society priests give a very balanced idea of the Pope. You quoted it yourself:

"obedience to the Pope in all things that aren't sinful",

In a previous letter Msgr. Perl explained the authoritative weight of these letters:

You want to know how authoritative our responses are. We Must indicate to you that this letter accurately reflects the practice and pastoral solicitude of this Pontifical Commission, but it is not an official declaration of the Holy See.

Any more Authoritative response to your questions than the one we have given would be more likely to come from the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith.

These statements are absolutely conclusive that the Commission is not absolutely the highest authority and can be wrong on this issue. Furthermore Pontifical Commissions are just that Commissions, they don't have any authority apart from the Pope and the Pope may say they are wrong on a certain issue. They are not authoritative entities in this way even if they are right. Just think about that Pontifical commission that said Limbo may not exist. I'm sorry I'll wait for the Pope or Holy Office to definitively talk on the issues.
