Sounds like the Mormon book Fascinating Womanhood.

Sometimes the Internet reminds me of being in a chicken coop with an infinite number of Chicken Littles at any given millisecond dodging pieces of their falling skies.

There is a subtle difference between "invincible ignorance" and intolerably stupid.

It's very much like it.  I think she even references it, if I remember correctly.

PS--  Dressing with Dignity is one of the worst books I have ever read.

Well, it's not really new.

I recently read it. It's got lots of good information, but nothing I hadn't seen elsewhere -- no fresh ideas. It's readable, but not well-written. I don't know. It did instigate some needed soul-searching for me, but I wasn't satisfied. It would be fantastic if a truly intelligent woman with depth and historical insight who could write at college-level and wasn't a victim of shallow gender stereotyping would write a book on this subject. This may be stupid, but it also bugs me that Mrs. Hammond wears so much makeup, and that she doesn't realize how out-of-date it sounds to address her sudience as "gals." Erg.

Thanks for bringing up the subject. I'd really like to know what other readers' thoughts are.

Incidentally, I read parts of Fascinating Womanhood years ago. It was way more interesting. I didn't know it was Mormon, though.
