Ironically enough, the original intention of this thread was to procure lace so as to convert my surplice to look like the following picture. I've grown quite fond of the slit-down-the-middle surplices with lace edging and cuffs:

Although ... Catholic777 ... I actually like both pictures you posted.

God bless,

Edging can be okay, but I see no appeal in the "slit"...

You guys need to start a Trad GQ - call it "TradCath Dandy" or something.

Best idea I've read all day.

In regard to Gothic-style architecture, I quite enjoy the English style of Gothic Churches with the Rood Screen:

... but hold on Catholic777 have I got a Church for you, sonny-jim!!

Is it St. Etheldreda's?

Most beautiful little church in the world, in my mind, though I'd raise the altar-rail to a full rood screen, replace the little choir stalls with some more substantial ones, bring the altar out from against the wall and install a gothic-style canopy over it, and perhaps put a little confessio behind it leading to the crypt (where there'd ideally be the carved sarcophogus with the relics of some obscure pre-Norman saint with some ridiculous Welsh sounding name, like Gwynneldabert or something like that).

Ah, yes, I forgot to specify.

I like English Gothic, mainly. If you like Gothic and medieval stuff...English is the only way to go. Or British Isles in general.

French...well...at least they tried...

Close enough. It's German Baroque and is, apparently, in use by Fraternity over at Wigratzbad.

I thought you'd like it.
