Yes, I was wondering where Erin was in this discussion, I knew she would pop up. Tell me where I wrote want? Your mind is in the 70's listening to Helen Reddy songs with that skewed view of men.  If you let yourself be used by men and thereby obtained your strange view of men then I am sorry to hear that but that is your own fault.

It might come as a surprise that not all men are like how you view them. Additionally, you are implying that women that take care of their husbands are weak, unintelligent and do not know as much nor are as advanced as women like you. My wife is certainly strong, certainly intelligent and she is a good Catholic wife. She is neither my servant nor my slave and weak women like certain ones that inhabit this blog need to work on being less insecure.

Whew--thank God, the cavalry!

I do not appreciate you implying that I have been "used" by anyone.

Do you think it is appropriate for one Catholic to imply such things about another?

Can there be an implication is the word "if" is used?

With regard to the skewed view of men--he's spot on.

Got nuttin' but love for you Erin!

Thinking that most men are insecure little boys who can't handle anyone who doesn't stroke their inflated egos is not what I'd call skewed.

Fair enough--"limited," then, is a better word.

Interestingly, if you could rephrase to say "most men are put in positions of providing security for the family, traditionally, and appreciate a little support and respect for this position of responsibility from their helpmate to assist in their self-respect," I think all men here would agree with you.

Men are abused and injured more by the wife's (his own flesh, right?) careless or denigrating word than by anyone's fist.  This is common knowledge, and bears the test of the millenia, if not God's very design.

I wouldn't call it skewed either.  I'd call it man-hating.

I don't hate anyone.  Am I 'man-disliking'?  Generally, yes, but not when it comes to individuals.

No, I ´d call it realistic.
And I´m saying that as an unmarried professional woman, who has to deal with men and their Napoleon-complexes on a daily basis. Plenty of examples right on this website, btw.

Well, I can go with "man-disliking"

I don't know if I can speak for all the men here, but I, for one, would LOVE those examples.

Also, why don't women order foreign grooms?

Haven't you seen "Not Without My Daughter" featuring Sally Field? LOL
I watched that as a child and even at that young age I made a mental note to never marry a middle eastern man.

Distinguo!  I have known a lot of Middle Eastern Christians (Lebanese, Syrians, and Coptic Egyptians), and they are not at all like Middle Eastern Muslims.  In fact, their families remind me of the Italian-Americans of one or two generations ago.
